Overwatch 2 players who visit the game's official social media pages may notice that the game's logo has been taken over by the Talon symbol! What's going on with Overwatch 2? Here's everything we know so far.
Overwatch 2 gets taken over by Talon
On Jan. 23, Overwatch 2's Instagram, Facebook, X, and other official channels got taken over by Talon. The symbol represents an antagonistic faction in the game's universe. According to an email to esports.gg, this Talon event may be related to Vendetta.
"After Vendetta dominated Season 20, it seems her reign has only just begun," the email stated. "More will become clear as Season 21 approaches in the weeks ahead."
The email also included a short Q&A section featuring vague responses and a possibility of something happening soon. The Q&A can be read below.
I'll just answer some of your questions now to get ahead of it (with what I’ve been allowed to disclose)...
- What is happening with Overwatch right now?
- It is Talon now. I shouldn’t say anything else…
- Why change the name to Talon?
- It’s too dangerous to explain that.
- Is this supposed to be on all Overwatch socials, storefronts, etc.?
- The change has been made across all Talon social channels, Battle.net, and in-game. Console storefronts won’t reflect this (don’t ask why. I really shouldn’t be talking about that either.).
- Is this leading to something bigger?
- Maybe? Who knows?
- Who is behind this? Is Vendetta involved?
- They’re watching me… I can’t say anything now.
- When will more info be revealed?
- Soon… ;)
Additionally, the official Overwatch 2 account on X shared the video below with Vendetta saying, "So. My reign begins."

This video was followed up by some images, including ones for Vendetta, Reaper, Sombra, Widowmaker, Moira, Mauga, and Sigma.
OWCavalry then noted that a new GIF shared by the official Overwatch 2 account featured Doomfist in an updated Rialto map.
Overwatch 2 Talon takeover features Vendetta
Will players soon get a Talon event similar to the one that was exclusive to China? Only time will tell. For now, we can theorize a bit. For example, the recent reveal of Vendetta going against Talon may be related to this takeover.
For context, Vendetta's father, Antonio Bartalotti of Talon, was killed by Gabriel Reyes of Blackwatch. Blackwatch, Overwatch's covert ops division, included him, Cassidy, Genji, and Moira. Gabriel Reyes later became Reaper of Talon. Moira also joined the faction.
Additionally, in the Vendetta comic, we learned that Talon's Vialli and Doomfist took her inheritance, and Vendetta later sent the faction a message.
Emre and Talon in Overwatch 2
It's also possible that these Talon teasers have something to do with Emre. Just a couple of days ago, the Freja comic revealed Emre's connection to Talon. The former Overwatch agent even worked with Reaper and Moira in the past.
