The next Pokémon GO Community Day Classic will feature Machop. This will provide Pokémon GO Trainers a second chance to grab a Shiny Machop, and get a Machamp with exclusive move, Payback.
Mahcop Community Day Classic takes place Saturday, May 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
Choosing Machop for the next Pokémon GO Community Day Classic is a deliberate choice. The day after this event we have the release of Gigantamax Machamp. That means this Community Day, as well as giving boosted shiny odds, is a great chance to stack up on candy and candy XL. You'll need a lot of it to level up Max Moves and power up Gigantamax Machamp. There is also a really tasty 3x Stardust bonus!
So, as much as ever, this is a great chance to meet up with your friends and play some Pokémon GO.
Machop Pokémon GO Community Day Classic bonuses
The following bonuses will be in effect for trainers during Machop Community Day Classic in Pokémon GO.
- Earn 3× Catch Stardust during the event.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
There will also be a $1.99 Research Ticket - which is avaliable to gift for free! In addition there Showcases and special item-bundles in the Pokémon GO Store. This Research Ticket will grant you some encounters with Machop with the special seasonal background.
Featured Community Day Classic Pokémon: Machop
During the event times, Machop will be appearing much more frequently in the wild. You'll also have a increased chance of catching a Shiny Machop.
There will also be a featured move for evolving Machop. Any Machoke evolved into Machamp during Machop Pokémon GO Community Day Classic will learn Payback, a Dark-type move. If you have any Machamp already without this move, the only way they can learn this move is through an Elite TM.

Machamp Best Pokémon GO Moveset
Machop Community Day Classic will allow Trainers a second chance to get Payback as a Charged Attack for Machamp. However, Payback isn't a great move for Machamp or Shadow Machamp in PvP or Raids, so this isn't a huge deal.
The best moveset for Machamp is:
- Karate Chop
- Dynamic Punch (Raids) or Cross Chop (PvP)
- Stone Edge
This also applies to Shadow Machamp.
What Field Research have guaranteed special Backgrounds during Pokémon GO Community Day?
There are some Field Research tasks that always award a featured Pokémon encounter with the special event Background. Here are the Field Research tasks to keep an eye out for and make sure you complete:
- Win a five-star or higher Raid
- Trade a Pokémon
- Complete a Party Challenge
These tasks have the same shiny odds as wild encounters, even if they are completed after the Community Day ends.
Machop Community Day Classic: Pokémon GO Tips and Tricks
Machop Pokémon GO Community Day has the best bonus possible, 3x Stardust. This is boosted to 4.5x Stardust with a Starpiece active. That makes the mission for this Community Day Classic simple. Catch, catch, catch.
However, sadly we don't have any Candy bonuses for catching Pokémon during this event. Don't fret, you can still get extra Candy, Candy XL and XP by using a Fighting-type Mega Level 3 Mega Pokémon.
Here are the Pokémon you can Mega Evolve to get extra Candy, Candy XL and XP for catching Machop:
- Heracross
- Blaziken
- Medicham
- Lopunny
- Lucario
- Gallade
Don't forget some other easy tips:
- Don't catch Pokémon before the event starts. These Pokémon can turn into Machop.
- Spin as many Pokéstops as possible, to get event specific Field Research as well as extra resources.
- Don't activate Lures' or Incense till the event starts to get the extra time.
