Back to Kalos in 2025.

Nintendo have announced that the next Pokémon game will release in 2025. Titled Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the game will be set in the Kalos region and will follow on from Legends: Arceus.

The Kalos region was first explored in Pokémon X & Y. This game is expected to explore the region in a new time period, much like Arceus explored the Sinnoh region of the past. It seems that this will explore Kalos in the future, not the past like Sinnoh was.

When does Pokémon Legends: Z-A release?

There will be a decent wait for Pokémon fans to get their hands on Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The title will release world wide at some point during 2025. It is confirmed to be releasing on Nintendo Switch systems, but that of course does not rule out the rumoured 'Switch Pro' being available by this time.

Mega evolutions back in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Also teased was the mechanic of Mega Evolutions making a return. The very end of the trailer dramatically revealed the Mega Evolution symbol.

This suggests that the popular mechanic will finally return to Pokémon games. It has been over a decade since Mega Evolutions were a mechanic in a Pokémon game. Mega Pokémon are very popular amongst fans, and this might mean that we see some new mega forms of popular Pokémon.

Despite the decade long absence, Mega Evolutions have remained a core mechanic in Pokémon GO. However, with just a few mega evolutions left to release this news will also perhaps extend the shelf life of Mega Evolutions being a key mechanic in that game as well.

Is there a Black and White Pokémon remake?

Ahead of Pokémon presents, there was much speculation about a remake of Pokémon Black & White or Gold & Silver. Unfortunately for fans of those games, no remake seems on the horizon for now. At least for the time being, it seems the Diamond and Pearl remakes were not the start of consistent reboots of past games.

This does not mean they will not come in the future, but with Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the horizon it seems we will be waiting even longer to see a reboot of either of those games.
