The day is finally here, the Remote Raid Pass limit is being raised!
Pokémon GO are raising the Remote Raid Limit later this May. It will be rising from five to 10, effective from May 13 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.
The introduction of the Remote Raid Limit, back in April 2023, is one of the most controversial changes ever made to the game. After being initially introduced during the COVID Pandemic, Remote Raids quickly became a core mechanic for Trainers.
Some would rack up huge bills remote raiding all day long. The limit was doubly unpopular thanks to it being introduced alongside a significant price rise to Remote Raid Passes.

At the time, Niantic justified the limit and price rise saying that Remote Raids were too dominant and that players were not playing outside enough. This logic did make sense, with players not attending things like Raid Hours and instead playing from home. Other in-person benefits, like increased Candy XL, were also introduced to incentivise playing outside with your community.

However, that logic sometimes seemed shaky around big events. During key-moments in the Pokémon GO calendar like GO Fest or the yearly GO Tour events the Remote Raid limit was either raised or removed totally. That confused some Trainers, as those are the times you would want players out and playing together more than ever.
Now, the Remote Raid limit in Pokémon GO is being raised to 10 permanently it seems that Trainers demands are being heard. This change seems to be the first major adjustment since the game was purchased by Scopely.
Additionally, it has been noted that Remote Raid limits will still be raised for major events like Raid Days and Pokémon GO Fest. These changes have been announced alongside the introduction of Remote Max Battles and Remote Shadow Raids. Both of these features will count towards the new limit of 10.
