Get ready for Yamask Research Day in Pokémon GO.

The Pokémon GO Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day is coming to Pokémon GO. The event runs from 2 till 5pm on Saturday, October 19. Both forms of Yamask will be avaliable from Field Research tasks.

Here's everything that the event has in store.

Pokémon GO Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day

Event-themed Field Research tasks will award encounters with the featured Pokémon.

  • Yamask
  • Galarian Yamask

Both of these Pokémon can be shiny. The Yamask 100% IV CP value is 420 CP for both forms.

These are pretty rare shinies in Pokémon GO, but sadly neither evolve in to particularly strong Pokémon. Neither Runerigus or Cofagrigus fare particularly well in Raids or PvP.

Runerigus is a decent pick in the Ultra League, so if you do fancy giving it a go keep your eye out for strong PvP IV's of Galarian Yamask. The ideal IV's are 15/15/15 for the Ultra League, and 0/11/14 for the Great League.

Wild Encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild:

  • Cubone
  • Zigzagoon
  • Galarian Zigzagoon
  • Duskull
  • Shieldon

Once again, all of the wild spawns during the Yamask Research Day can be shiny in Pokémon GO.

Paid Timed Research

For $2.00, you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research during this Research Day.

This Timed Research will challenge you to complete Field Research tasks to encounter more of the featured Pokémon. This will give you more chances to get a shiny version of either Yamask.

  • Yamask
  • Galarian Yamask

Yamask Research Day will bring avatar items to the Pokémon GO item shop

Additionlly, several masks will be avaliable in the in-game shop for the first time from October 14.

The items coming to the shop are:

  • Lucario Mask
  • Solgaleo Mask
  • Yamask Mask
  • Festival Mask (Pikachu)
  • Festival Mask (Eevee)
  • Pikachu Mask
  • Sableye Mask
  • Banette Mask
