Operation Collision Point Release Date

Operation Collision Date goes live on December 3, 2024, Ubisoft has revealed. The update will be a part of the Y9S4 release update.

The Operation Collision Date is the final Rainbow Six Siege operation of the year and presents some big releases and changes. One of the most exciting updates is the introduction of the PC and Console cross-play feature. This would allow players across platforms to enjoy the game with their friends. If you own the game on PC and login with the same Ubisoft account that is linked to your PSN account, you will be able to carry over your full inventory and Clearance Level.

What’s new in Operation Collision Date

Operation Collision Date includes a variety of changes including but not limited to Shields, Blackbeard, Ballistic Shields, and more. The arrival of PC and Console crossplay presents unique challenges that Ubisoft attempts to tackle in with the Collision Point update. There’s also an update to the Siege Cup Beta, wherein anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can compete in the Cup.

Besides the abovementioned changes, there are also several matchmaking improvements. The introduction of the Phantom Player concept hopes to bring some balance into stacked parties competing against individual or solo players. Quite often, players who play in a group are at a statistical advantage compared to other players that queue solo in matchmaking. To combat this ‘advantage’, Ubisoft has introduced the concept of a Phantom player.

With Phantom Player, the matchmaking system adds a mathematical "6th player" to every Squad that queues, taking into consideration the difference between the Squad members' skills. It also looks at the amount of players in the Squad, meaning that bigger Squads will face tougher opponents.

Team Rebalancing also aims to bring parity to matchmaking lobbies. The system now has an improved algorithm that checks for the skill levels of players across both the teams. If there is a significant gap in the skill level, then the system will attempt to balance it out by shuffling the players across the teams.

There are many other tweaks and improvements for operators and within the game with the Y9S4 update. The new update as well as Operation Collision Course goes live on December 3, 2024.
