A huge R6 esports tournament starts with a lot of Swiss System matches. It’s a chance for the favorites to warm up and for the underdogs to deliver spectacular upsets.

This year is pretty special for Rainbow Six Siege, as the game transitioned to the revamped version, R6 Siege X. We had a big offline event right before the full release, RE:L0:AD. However, it was an invitational. The first R6 Siege X tournament with a proper qualification series is Munich Major 2025.

The 16 participating teams dive into many matches of the Swiss Stage on Nov. 8. In five rounds, they need to earn three wins to advance to the Playoffs. Having three losses means elimination.

Everything about this starting phase of the Rainbow Six Siege X Munich Major 2025 is here.

Swiss Stage, the best chance for the underdogs

Some teams among the 16 participants at the Rainbow Six Siege Major 2025 in Munich are the clear favorites. They come from stronger regions and have great international results in their record. FURIA, FaZe Clan, Team Secret, G2 Esports, and Team Falcons are examples of these favorites.

Their time to shine really brightly should come during the Playoffs stage, with the uncompromising battles for the trophy. The Swiss Stage is a chance for these teams to warm up.

On the other hand, some participants are the underdogs. The Swiss System rounds are a great opportunity to prove their competitive potential, earn some wins, and surprise everyone with big upsets.

The starting Swiss rounds can be really chaotic due to the Bo1 format and the general adapting period. It’s interesting to keep an eye on the teams from the traditionally smaller regions, such as Weibo Gaming or M80. Also, the teams with lower placements at the big regions may unleash their beast modes.

Following the regional champions

To qualify for the R6 Munich Major 2025, the teams had pretty tough tournaments in their regions. It’s interesting to follow those who succeeded in Stage 2 qualifiers.

  • South America is traditionally considered the strongest, as Brazilian Rainbow Six teams are often at the top of international esports events. FURIA won SA Stage 2.

  • Europe & MENA have big successes in 2025, specifically at the R6 Esports World Cup 2025. Team Falcons won the regional Stage 2.

  • North America wants to break the curse of being the third region. The Major in Munich is another chance. M80 are the NA champions.
