11-year legacy ends: Cloud9 drops Mang0 after Beerio Kart incident

Mang0 lost his Cloud9 contract, is getting bans from Melee tournaments, and won’t be able to stream until Twitch lifts his ban. This is everything you need to know about Ludwig’s last Beerio Kart event.

Before the Beerio Kart event, Joseph "Mang0" Marquez's name was mostly associated with playing for Cloud9 at tournaments such as EVO, Genesis, or Supernova. The Smash Bros. superstar is currently in the eye of the storm after the team that supported him for more than a decade terminated his contract.

The incident happened on June 21. Beerio Kart is a stream party organized by "Ludwig" Anders Ahgren. There, he invites multiple online personalities to play a Mario Kart tournament while drinking alcohol. In the 2025 run, he decided to focus less on the tournament and more on the streamers. Of course, every single one of them was allowed to stream their own POV.

However, Mang0 wasn't live. At some point during the party, he wasn't even trying to play Mario Kart. The ex-Cloud9 player had ingested too much alcohol. In this dangerous state, he decided to poke fun at other male and female streamers in a very inappropriate way: by doing visible sexual movements while they were distracted.

Multiple streamers caught this incident on camera. Maya Higa and Extra Emily's clips were some of the most viral ones. However, sources pointed out that Mang0 had multiple other uncomfortable appearances during Beerio Kart.

What consequences will Mang0 face after Beerio Kart and Cloud9's kick?

So far, it seems that Mang0's actions will not raise any legal charges. However, his career took a massive hit after this situation. Aside from losing his esports sponsorship, he is also officially banned from Supernova — one of the few Smash Bros. Melee competitions left. The announcement made through social media said that "We are grateful for Mang0's understanding", which means the player was notified before the decision.

Ludwig, as the organizer of the Beerio Kart event, informed that Mang0 won't be invited to other MM events. He's referring to "Mogul Moves", his own production company.

On this decision, multiple online users showed their disapproval. They don't question Mang0's ban or his Cloud9 contract termination, but the streamer's attitude on the matter. A clip of Ludwig celebrating that the player reached 0.32 on the breathalyzer went viral, which made viewers question if he did anything to stop him or just encouraged these actions.

To put things in perspective, a 0.32 blood alcohol content is not only dangerous, but can potentially lead to alcohol poisoning, loss of consciousness, and (in some cases) fatality.

Twitch also banned the Smash Bros. Melee player. There are no reports on when the streamer will be unbanned, but this is not a permanent situation.

Mang0's statement after the incident and the community's reaction

Before the Cloud9 announcement, Mang0 was already posting apologies about his behaviour during the Beerio Kart event. He posted messages like "99 percent of my problems always stem from drinking, so I'm gonna reevaluate my relationship with alcohol," and "No one to blame but myself, but man. Never thought I could hit this low."

Finally, on Jun. 24, he posted a more in-depth letter to all his followers. Mang0 admitted his actions during the Beerio Kart event deserved the negative reactions he got. He also shared more about his addiction to alcohol and how this jeopardized his family relationships. To close the message, he said he supports the bans and asked the community not to justify his actions. The pro player will be seeking professional help and shared that he'll step out of public life during this process.

As for the ban, I support it. I’ve always wanted what is best for Melee. If I never get to come back, I accept that. What matters most now is fixing what I can and making sure I never become that person again. Trust takes time, and some people might never want me around again. I respect that fully.

Users, streamers, and other pro player shared their feelings about Mang0's situation. Jeffrey "Axe" Williamson showed his support, like many online users. Despite stating that he's very disappointed, he also said that he has faith this situation will change him for good.

On the other hand, Zack "Asmongold" Hoyt's opinion is that this is not an abnormal behaviour during a party. However, he agrees that Mang0's actions weren't correct, and says that this kind of content should never be streamed.
