Pacific’s third and second seeds Paper Rex and Gen.G Esports cross paths in the Swiss Stage of VALORANT Masters Toronto.

Fans were treated to some good ol' Pacific-style VALORANT as Paper Rex and Gen.G meet each other in the Swiss Stage of Masters Toronto. Here's how that match played out.

Paper Rex vs Gen.G Esports

Paper Rex was the region's third seed, while Gen.G was its second. Both teams won their first matches convincingly. PRX demolished Team Heretics, and Gen.G found their win against MIBR. As the two powerhouses met on the third day of Masters Toronto, nobody knew what to expect.

Map 1: Ascent (Gen.G 13 - 11 PRX)

Gen.G had a strong opener, getting seven consecutive round wins before PRX found their first. The latter team clawed their way back, though, and closed out the half at 4-8. Paper Rex was successful in closing the gap in the second half and was even on an X-round win streak. However, Gen.G regained control of the game and denied the completion of the comeback that PRX worked hard towards.

The Korean team eventually claimed the map 13-11, but Paper Rex made them sweat for it.

Map 2: Icebox

Icebox was another strong start for Gen.G. They quickly took six out of the first seven rounds and effectively repelled PRX's assaults. Like in map 1, the SEA team once again took quite a while to get their engines running. In the meantime, Gen.G has already been going full steam ahead. The first half of Icebox told the same story, too, with PRX in an even bigger hole as it ended 9-3.

The South Korean squad looked unstoppable heading into the second half. They took their fourth pistol round of the series and ran away with their lead, closing out the series with a commanding 13-3 win on Icebox.

What's next for Gen.G and PRX?

This win meant that Gen.G Esports are 2-0 in the Swiss Stage and are therefore qualified for the playoffs. They join Sentinels as the second team to qualify from the Swiss Stage.

Meanwhile, PRX is now 1-1 in Swiss, meaning they have to play a do-or-die.
