In the EDG vs TL game, many players and staff complained about issues in competitive VALORANT such as the Zmjjkk mouse situation.

After the EDward Gaming and Team Liquid game for VALORANT Masters Bangkok Swiss Stage, the Chinese team manager went on live talking about the Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang mouse problem and the glitches that his PC was having. According to him, "during the technical timeout at 4-4 in Map 1, Kangkang had to switch to a wired mouse to continue playing."

Technical issues

During the broadcast, some glitches on Kangkang's PC were visible, and they were clearly uncomfortable to play with. However, the player kept pushing through the situation and performed incredibly well, leading his team to victory. Despite his success, fans and pro players were not happy about the situation.

One of those who commented on the situation was Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel from Team Vitality — who also participated in the tournament. The player accused Riot Games of not handling the situation right since the issue occurred specifically on stage and not during practice.

"This problem only occurs on stage, not in practice, yet their 'solutions' — like switching to a wired mouse — are unacceptable at this level. Players deserve transparency and fair conditions," he wrote on X.

Zmjjkk mouse situation wasn't the first time

Pro player Jacob "icy" Lange from Evil Geniuses also commented under Sayf's post, stating this was not the first time that such problems had occurred. According to icy, he was forced to exchange his mouse for a wired one due to the changes to a bigger arena during Masters Shanghai 2024.

The previous VALORANT head coach for Team Liquid, Emil "eMIL" Sandgren, also talked about other problems such as "timeout standing our ground in Tokyo Masters because RedgarI wasn't allowed to adjust his monitor height." Even Maks "kamyk" Rychlewski, Team Liquid's player who lost that day, said that "PCs aren't able to handle more than 2k hz in some situations and it shouldn't be an issue."

Riot Games' response to the Zmjjkk mouse situation

It didn't take long for Riot Games to respond to the feedback. Leo Faria, global head of VALORANT Esports, posted on X about the origin of these issues. According to him, the organization is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it. Leo explained that the issue arises from the high amount of technology in the arena, which affects signals, including the mouse connection. However, he assured that wired mice are just a temporary solution, as players have the right to use the equipment they feel most comfortable with.

All we can do now is see what strategies will Riot Games implement to try to address this situation and hope that the Zmjjkk mouse issue doesn't happen again with other players.
