Significant Killjoy changes coming with VALORANT patch 6.03

VALORANT patch 6.03 is making pretty hefty changes to Killjoy and Raze’s Boom Bot, while initiating Real Time Text Evaluation.

Riot Games has never been shy about updating VALORANT. The team in place takes community feedback, bug reports, and overall effect of Agents on competitive play into deep consideration. There are frequent patches for VALORANT and the next one up is 6.03.

Patch 6.02 saw a server rewind adjustment and the big Stinger update we were all waiting for. The Stinger still reigns supreme it seems, but another aspect of gameplay is taking a hit to follow. VALORANT patch 6.03 will change Killjoy's Turret and Lockdown, along with Raze's Boom Bot.

The big items coming out of patch 6.03 deal with the technologically-sound Killjoy. Riot feels that Chamber's recent balanced greatly affected Killjoy's usage. After seeing where she stands since patch 5.12, when the Chamber nerf occurred, they've decided to dothe following:

  • Killjoy's Turret has its health decreased from 125 to 100
  • Killjoy's Lockdown Ultimate has its orb cost increased from 7 to 8

The idea is that opponents will have an easier time destroying the Turret, especially with weaker weapons in the opening or eco rounds of a match. For Lockdown, it will remain a powerful Ultimate, but at a higher price point to reduce its frequency.

Killjoy's duo, Raze, is also on the receiving end of a slight nerf. Her Boom Bot, the ability that sends a small robot forward to clear corners and blow up enemies, will have some of its time in the spotlight reduced:

  • Raze's Boom Bot has its duration decreased from 10s to 5s

The amount of time a Boom Bot is on the prowl has been cut in half. The intended use of the ability is to clear sharper angles rather than allowing the Bot so much space down long lanes.

Real Time Text Evaluation comes to NA servers

The last big piece of the patch notes for 6.03 in VALORANT is Real Time Text Evaluation. It is for NA servers only to start and has been added to the Agent Select Screen. This was touched on in the notes for patch 5.10.

The feature will automatically detect disruptive text in-game and mute the players behind it. This feature makes it so you can feel safer engaging with your teammates via text in VALORANT, with little chance to see unkind messages in return.

As always, you can read the full patch notes to see everything included in VALORANT patch 6.03 on the official website. This includes additional minor bug fixes and an update on Swiftplay remaining.
