What are these new Mighty Pokémon in Pokémon GO?

The Pokémon GO Wild Area event is debuting a whole new type of Pokémon, called Mighty Pokémon. These are new and very powerful Pokémon that have a range of boosts over standard Pokémon. They will be harder to catch, and you will need to be on your A-game to catch these.

Here is everything you need to know about Mighty Pokémon ahead of the GO Wild Area Global event this weekend.

What are Mighty Pokémon?

Mighty Pokémon are a brand new concept in the game. They are extremely powerful, high level third evolution Pokémon. All of these Pokémon can be shiny, if you're lucky. Additionally, they will all have the following shared Traits:

  • More likely to have high Attack, Defense, and HP ratings
  • More likely to be XL or XXL
  • More difficult to capture

One of the biggest advantages is that these Pokémon can save you a lot of resources in game. These Pokémon have really strong IVs, and they are also a very high level. That means they don't need much candy or Stardust to make them useful.

Some of the Mighty Pokémon are great Raid Attackers, and others have Mega Evolutions.

Use Safari Balls to capture these Pokémon

However, because they are so tough to capture the GO Wild Area is giving us a new type of PokéBall to use across the event. Trainers will be able to access Safari Balls during the weekend, that will have a better catch rate than Ultra Balls.

You will need to use these Safari Balls to have the best chance of capturing these Mighty Pokémon. Try to save them for the Pokémon you are most interested in, as you will have a limited supply of these. They expire at the end of every day, and don't carry over and won't be avaliable after the event.
