Get your Groudon ready for battle in Pokémon GO.

Groudon is one of the best Pokémon in the entirety of Pokémon GO. It is a fantastic Raid attacker in its own right, it has a Primal Reversion that is the best Ground-type Pokémon in the entire game and it is also a very good Pokémon in the Master League PvP. However, to unlock all that potential you will need to make sure you have the best moveset on your Groudon.

Thankfully, we've put together everything you need to know to have the right moves.

Groudon best Pokémon GO moveset

Having the best moveset on a Pokémon can be make or break, especially in PvP. However, getting the very best move for Groudon comes at a higher price than some Pokémon. You will need not just one but two Elite Charged TM's to be fully optimised.

Sometimes, Groudon can automatically come with its Legacy Move after Raids. However, as of November 2024 during the GO Wild Area event this is not the case.

You will want to unlock a second move if you are planning to use Groudon in the Master League.

The best Groudon moveset in Pokémon GO is:

  • Mud Shot
  • Precipice Blades
  • Fire Punch

Precipice Blades and Fire Punch are the two charged attacks that you will need Elite TM's for. However, both are more than worth it.

Precipice Blades is by far one of the most Pokémon moves in the entirety of Pokémon GO. It makes Groudon, and Primal Groudon, one of the best Pokémon in the game. Additionally, it is also a fantastic move for PvP too.

Fire Punch isn't that useful in Raids, but it a must have for PvP. It has a very quick charge time, which is fantastic to help burn through your opponents shields.

All moves Groudon can learn in Pokémon GO:

Fast Attacks:

  • Mud Shot
  • Dragon Tail

Charged Moves:

  • Earthquake
  • Fire Blast
  • Fire Punch
  • Solar Beam
  • Precipice Blades

If you really can't spare an Elite Charged TM, Earthquake and Fire Blast are the best two substitute moves you can use. Solar Beam can be an interesting option, because it is directly effective against Primal Groudon's weaknesses, Water Pokémon. However, it isn't really advisable to use it in PvP and you would just use better Pokémon in Raids.
