Counter-Strike 2 releases in Summer this year.
Veteran FPS player Hiko has hinted at a return to CS following Counter-Strike 2’s release later this summer. The 100 Thieves streamer has had a long and successful career in CS:GO initially as a player and later as a streamer.

Hiko’s almost-announcement of a return to Counter-Strike is just the thing that many of his fans would want. Counter-Strike 2’s announcement and its impending release later this year is a marquee event and Hiko is one of the most famous FPS players of the past decade.
For his fans, Hiko’s return to Counter-Strike will bring back memories of the Clutch-King’s performance on Cache while playing professionally.
Will he compete in Counter-Strike 2 professionally?
At 33 years of age, Hiko is already old in esports terms. However, he is not looking to compete in the game but will be focused on streaming. He further clarified on Twitter saying if he streams Counter-Strike 2 it won't mean the end of his VALORANT streams. It will be interesting to see Hiko learn one of his favorite games from scratch as Counter-Strike 2 will have quite a few differences compared to CS:GO.
It’s time to come Home
During his time on 100 Thieves VALORANT roster, the team won the First Strike North America before placing top four in the JBL Quantum Cup. Once VCT kicked off, 100 Thieves were consistently a top-tier team in North America, even placing top 6 at the VCT Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik in 2021. In April last year, Hiko announced his decision to step down from competitive VALORANT and focus more on streaming.
Hiko has been a staple in NA CS over the past decade playing for orgs like Complexity, Cloud9, iBuyPower, Rogue amongst others. But he made a name for himself with his strategic gameplay in clutch situations.
Hiko’s potential return to CS is not a big surprise. We expect many more VALORANT content creators and even some players to switch back to CS2 on the game’s release.
Counter-Strike brings significant changes to the game including improved graphics, responsive smokes, and much more. The game will release in Summer this year with the first CS2 Major taking place in 2024.
