Hideo Kojima is serving as executive producer for a new Death Stranding anime, set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
Following the success of the second game in the series, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the franchise is getting an anime adaptation. The sequel quickly became a hit, selling roughly 1.4 million copies by the end of June, shortly after its release.
Death Stranding Isolations
Death Stranding: Isolations is the working title for the upcoming anime adaptation. The legendary video game creator and Death Stranding producer Hideo Kojima will serve as the anime’s executive producer, joined by several other major industry names.
Takayuki Sano was named the director for the adaptation. Sano was the key animator behind titles such as Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Kakegurui, Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. We will also count on Ilya Kuvshinov for the original character design, the one behind Psycho-Pass 3 and One Piece episode 1089.
Set in the world of Death Stranding, the anime will tell a completely new story, separate from the events of the video games. The series follows a young man and woman as they set out on an unexpected journey. Presented in a traditional hand-drawn 2D animation style, the project is being brought to life by top Japanese animation talent at E&H Production.
The Death Stranding anime adaptation will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2027, though the official release date has not yet been announced.
Synopsis
