Ahead of the first-ever OWCS World Finals at DreamHack Stockholm, Overwatch 2 premiered the OWCS anthem and more.
The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) World Finals will kick off at DreamHack Stockholm on Nov. 22. Ahead of the event, Blizzard premiered two OWCS tracks! Read on for the OWCS anthem and theme song.
OWCS anthem
Here is the official OWCS anthem, which will be the esports event's victory track at DreamHack Stockholm. This means attendees will hear this track play when an Overwatch 2 team claims victory in a round.
Overwatch 2 esports soundtrack: OWCS Overtime
Below is the OWCS Overtime soundtrack as well. According to composer Justin Welgraven in an interview, this track is a modern one with more drum and bass. It also "goes up and down a bit more" to keep the audience's attention.
This track will be used to "keep listeners hooked even when game or commentary is layered on top," according to Rolling Stone. Welgraven collaborated with Blizzard in the past as well. He worked on music for World of Warcraft.
"It was really important as we developed this song [that] it needed to feel and sound like Overwatch," Sean Miller, the head of Overwatch 2 esports, told Rolling Stone. “Having this sound like a traditional sports league theme song was actually not high on our list. Whereas maybe previous iterations of Overwatch esports, that was more important. For us, the focus is now staying connected and authentic to the game more than anything.”
