How did yay end up at DSG?
Despite being signed to Cloud9 during the offseason after OpTic Gaming failed to obtain a franchise spot in VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas, it looked like all was well. However, after finishing eleventh place at São Paulo LOCK//IN, Cloud9 parted ways with yay.
This sparked global questions from fans asking why one of the best, if not the best VALORANT player to ever play, was without a team. In an interview with journalist George Geddes, Disguised Toast discussed how yay approached him to join DSG. This led to the arrangement we now see of yay playing for DSG.

Disguised Toast on yay joining DSG
During the interview, Disguised Toast also expressed how he wanted yay and DSG to have a successful working relationship and hoped that signing yay would contribute to DSG’s legacy. Additionally, if organizations came back looking to sign yay once more, and yay decided to stay with DSG, then Disguised Toast will have created a strong working environment.
While discussing yay’s joining DSG announcement, Disguised Toast also talked about some of the business behind the scenes. He went into how it's easier to be a streamer than to be a pro player because you can “be a streamer, make more money, make your own time.”

DSG’s future used to look uncertain
DSG received a mixed reception at its start. Some folks loved that Disguised Toast started his own organization centered on people as opposed to making money. Meanwhile, others felt that it was nothing more than a joke that would likely go too far.
In the same interview, Disguised Toast explained how “I can personally fund DSG with my eight years of savings for the next two years,” but he was also looking for routes to make the organization profitable so it could have longevity. He mentioned the controversy surrounding his streamer-based Game Changers team for tier 2 VALORANT. Disguised Toast talked about merchandise and the importance of sustainability to him.
"Right now, we’re not making a lot of money, but we are building up to be sustainable and being sustainable is important,” he said.
