Valorant 6.0 patch notes highlight the return of Split, addition of Lotus, and competitive updates

The Valorant 6.0 patch notes indicate changes to the map pool and updates to how ranks are earned coming in Episode 6 Act I.

Riot Games has been teasing Valorant Episode 6 for weeks and it is finally arriving. The update will introduce a new Battlepass, changes to the map pool, and much more. The Valorant 6.0 patch notes are filled with updates to the first-person shooter.

From simple gameplay updates to a variety of bug fixes, the 6.0 update will ensure the new Episode kicks off without a hitch. Read ahead for all of the major details from the patch notes.

Lotus arrives with Valorant 6.0 patch

Arguably the most important aspect of the patch is the introduction of Lotus. The new map comes with three sites and multiple gameplay mechanics. You can expect breakable walls, rotating doors, and a silent drop to keep you moving without giving up your position.

It is important to note that Lotus will launch with the Valorant 6.0 patch on Jan. 10. It will be in a Lotus-only queue for the Swiftplay mode for one week. Competitive and unrated queues will then receive the map with Patch 6.1.

Split makes its comeback while Bind and Breeze say goodbye

Split is on its way back into the map pool with some tweaks that favor the attacking side. Here are all of the changes that Riot Games made to the map, according to the Valorant 6.0 patch notes:

  • A Main: The area has been widened with a ledge added. The update reduces the boost box next to the orb.
  • A Rafters: The map sees a shortened overhead ledge that does not reach all the way to the wall any longer.
  • A Tower: The stairs are rotated to the exit towards defender spawn.
  • Mid: Mid Platform now provides a silent drop. The trick-jump onto the Mid Box has been removed.
  • B Tower: The Box no longer has a trash can for players to use to jump onto it.
  • B Rope Pocket: The corner below the rope is no longer a straight angle, but rather has a diagonal wall for easier clearing.

Split's reintroduction coincides with the removal of two maps. Both Breeze and Bind are out of competitive and unrated queues. They will still be playable in other Valorant modes, however.

Competitive queue receives overhaul to RR gains and losses

A new Episode brings with it a ranked reset. You'll have to do your placement matches and climb your way back up to Radiant after Valorant patch 6.0 goes live. Then you will be able to experience the new update to Ranked Rating.

RR gains and losses will depend more on victories and defeats for all players. This moves slightly away from the previous dependency on round differential. For players who place at a rank far away from their MMR, gains and losses will depend more on individual performance.

Important bug fixes

Last up for the Valorant 6.0 patch notes are the bugs. Here are some of the more important bugs that the update will fix:

  • Players could place Cypher's Trapwire through Sage's Barrier Orb
  • Traps weren't damaged after placed in an active molly
  • Fade's Prower control was not interrupted and Viper could deactivate Viper's Pit during suppression

Aside from those, the other important fixes are gameplay fixes. Killjoy's Lockdown wasn't taking damage from all damaging abilities. Certain mollies weren't damaging some of Chamber's abilities. And multiple abilities weren't damaging Harbor's Cove.

The rest of the fixes and changes from Valorant patch 6.0 are available on the official patch notes post from Riot Games on the Valorant blog.
