Mow down enemies with this powerful gun.
Avowed has finally launched for all players and right out of the gate, one weapon has emerged as the dominant choice in the Living Lands: the Arquebus. This long-range gun can make many fights in Avowed trivial at best, as the gun features tremendous damage and a ton of range so you can easily pick off enemies from afar.
While the plain Arqeubus that you find as loot or purchase from a vendor is solid enough, a unique Arquebus that has special abilities is even better. Fortunately, we know where you can find the best Arquebus in Avowed and we'll explain how to get it in the guide below.
How to get the best Arquebus in Avowed
Actually, there are two Arquebus' that we're going to offer you. The first one can be purchased from a vendor near the halfway point of Avowed while the other can't be acquired until near the end of the game, but it's certainly worth the wait.
Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus
The first Arquebus that we recommend going after is available in the town of Thirdborn, which is the main hub city in the Shatterscarp region. This is the third map you can explore in Avowed and you're able to make your way there after the events in Emerald Stair take place. Thirdborn is located southeast of Eagle's Reach when you first enter Shatterscarp and it doesn't take too long to get to on foot.
In Thirdborn, you want to visit the merchant located on the northwest side of the city. The merchant's name is Kampeki and at first, they want nothing to do with you. However, you can convince them to open up their shop to you. You're also able to exclaim at a unique Arqeubus that Kampeki has on display in the shop. Kampeki agrees to sell you the Arquebus, but it's not cheap whatsoever.
If you view Kampeki's wares, you'll see the name of the unique Arquebus is Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus, and it starts off at exceptional quality. The Arquebus is sold for just over 12,000 gold, which certainly isn't cheap for this point in Avowed.
The weapon is 100% worth it, though, as it starts off with nearly 250 damage and has two unique abilities. One of the abilities deals fire damage to enemies after a kill and the other allows power shots to deal more stun damage.
Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus is a weapon that can carry you through most of the game in Avowed.

Moonstrike/Heavenstrike
However, if you really want to step up your game, you need to visit Forgemaster Dela in Solace Keep. Solace Keep is the main hub city in the final region of Galawain's Tusks in Avowed. Dela is located at the bottom of the keep in the forge and can take your Fragment of Starmetal pieces and turn them into unique weapons, one of which being an Arquebus.
Fragments of Starmetal are a part of the "Forged of Star-Stuff" quest in Avowed. You can find a total of four Starmetal pieces, one in each map, and bring them to Dela to make you a unique weapon and upgrade them one time.
The unique Arquebus that Dela can make you is called the Moonstrike, and it's one of the best weapons in Avowed. If you choose to upgrade the Moonstrike with another Starmetal piece, you'll acquire the Heavenstrike, which arguably is the best overall weapon in the game.
Unfortunately, finding Starmetal pieces and getting to Solace Keep brings you close to the ending of Avowed, so you won't get to use Moonstrike/Heavenstrike for too long. They're great weapons to have for the final parts of the story, though.
