Can you start the adventure over in Avowed?

Avowed is a jam-packed RPG with over 50 hours of content, an enthralling story, and some gorgeous locations spread across four distinct maps. There's no shortage of people to meet, places to visit, and quests to embark on in the Living Lands. However, one major content question that RPG fans have been asking about with Avowed is whether or not it has a New Game Plus mode.

New Game Plus is a feature in plenty of games and allows you to keep your character after you've beaten a game, but still start a new save. So, you basically start over from scratch in the story but keep your character's progression. Usually, New Game Plus offers harder enemies and additional content to explore.

Does Avowed have any kind of New Game Plus mode or are you truly done when the credits roll?

Unfortunately, at launch, Avowed does not feature any form of a New Game Plus mode. There is no extra content after the credits have rolled, so you either have to start a completely new save or go back into your existing save to finish off any content you might have missed.

The developers at Obsidian Entertainment confirmed the RPG won't launch with the feature in a recent interview, but didn't offer much in the way of an explanation as to why. While it's possible a New Game Plus mode arrives in the future as DLC, there's been no news on that front.

The lack of New Game Plus in Avowed means you have to try and experiment with as many build and weapon combinations as possible unless you're planning on doing multiple playthroughs. You have to fit as much content as you can in your initial playthrough, as you won't be able to come back to it in the future unless you reload an old save.

Near the end of Avowed, you will reach a point of no return in the story. After this point, you won't be able to save the game, so it's recommended to finish up all the side content prior to this happening. However, you still can complete side content after the credits roll, as the game will just take you back to a save before the point of no return.

Hopefully, the developers add some form of extra progression in Avowed, if not a full-blown New Game Plus mode, in the future. For now, though, you only have until you reach the point of no return to participate in any content with your character.
