Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP Recap

Once again Solary served Hearthstone Battlegrounds fans with a high-stakes competitive event. Check out who played and the results.

This weekend 16 players clashed in the Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP, supported by Predator. This €2,000 event had a mix of invited and qualified players who competed in the main tournament.

Let's go over the action that took place this weekend.

Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP

The Solary GP officially started on September 2, with the open qualifier which gathered over 150 players. The top 8 from this qualy would make it into the Solary GP Hearthstone Battlegrounds main event.

After two days of competition and almost a dozen Lobbies, the top 8 players locked their tickets into the Solary GP semifinals. These were the names that made it into the big leagues:

  • Doud78
  • НеЛеший
  • DayWeen
  • EÐÕ
  • Kimblee
  • wystanich
  • Asesino
  • GroSSo

With a qualifier of such a magnitude, it's hard to enter into more details than listing the winners. However, if you want to check out the whole results and stats, you can visit the Bob's League event page here.

Solary GP BGs main event recap

With the Qualys done, it was time for the underdogs to fight against the invited pro-players. The Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP had the following frontrunners:

  • Cytro
  • Felkeine
  • Maverick
  • Oliech
  • Fishou
  • Rdu
  • Slyders
  • ValkinDed

The 16 players were shuffled into two groups. Each group played 5 games, and the top 4 point earners from each semi-final advanced to the Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP finals.

The finals

Three players from the Qualys made it to the final round on Sunday. The finals were a bit different regarding format, they were played under the Check format.

"In “Check” format, points are scored as usual, but you have to earn at least 20 points and then take first place in the match to win the tournament."

From the Ruleset

This format creates a unique scenario in which there's a point where what only matters is to win, not just to be consistent. This is especially appealing for the viewers since it guarantees that the event will end with a big winning moment.

The Hearthstone Battlegrounds Solary GP finals were an authentic show. It took 8 lobbies to declare a winner, and by that last game, six players had the chance to win the event. In the end, it was Fishou who nailed the decisive victory needed to secure his championship under the Check Format.

What stands out is that despite winning the tournament, Fishou had the least points of any of the Top 4 players. Moreover, as we've mentioned, several players were just one first place away from victory.

I'd recommend you to check out the VoDs from your preferred PoV to get a grasp of what this finals meant. Well, maybe not from RDU's side, he didn't have a good run this time.

With the official Hearthstone Battlegrounds competitive scene diminished to its minimal expression, Solary keeps fans and players with something to look forward to.
