Here’s how the TFT Pro Circuit works and what this esports update means to the Tier 2 scene.

Riot Games has revealed a new Tier 1 tournament series for Teamfight Tactics (TFT). The TFT Pro Circuit involves four different regions, including the Americas (AMER), Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), and China (CN), and each region features 32 players. Read on for a quick overview of how the TFT Pro Circuit works and more.

TFT Pro Circuit 2025

According to Riot Games, the top 32 players from TFT Set 15 will be made up of 28 players from the Cyber City Golden Spatula and four chosen individuals. Each set will get three TFT Pro Circuit events with 32 players, such as the Battle Academia Cup, Soul Fighter Cup, and Star Guardian Cup, and the winners of each of these will be directly invited to the Tactician's Crown.

Starting Aug. 29, players will duke it out for Pro Points. The number of Pro Points will then determine how they'll begin in their regional finals. While Weekend 2 will feature the top 12 players, the 20 remaining players will begin on Weekend 1 alongside 36 players from the ladder and Tactician's Cups events. Only the top 32 players from the regional finals will advance to the stage of the TFT Pro Circuit.

TFT Pro Circuit esports hub

To help everyone keep track of each competitor's status, the overall standings, and upcoming regional events, Riot Games will launch its own TFT Pro Circuit esports hub on Aug. 20. Later this year, this hub will expand to include broader TFT esports updates, standings, tournaments, schedules, and so on.

TFT Tier 2 esports

As for Tier 2 events, Michael Sherman, the director of TFT and emerging esports, said they will be a major opportunity for new players to rise to the top since Pro Circuit players will no longer compete in Cups and Trials.

"Right now, playing in Cups and Trials is a huge grind," Sherman explained. "To earn enough qualifier points requires you playing nearly every event of the set in order to qualify for regionals. Instead of using qualifier points, the top 10 players from each Cup will move on to the regional finals. This change will also move down to two Cups instead of three, putting more emphasis into each individual event. In addition to qualifying through Cups, players can still qualify for regional finals through the ranked ladder."

In terms of other ways of making competitive TFT more accessible to players, Riot Games will introduce an out-of-client tournament system. This test will begin in the AMER region and feature 24-player tournaments with no rank requirements. Players will compete in two to five games per run, and the top performers will be on a public leaderboard. Queues will stay open all weekend as well, allowing for unlimited entries and multiple runs per day.
