Boostio escapes EG jail to join 100 Thieves roster for VCT 2024

Will World Champion IGL Boostio be able to bring the glory days back to 100 Thieves?

100 Thieves have announced that Kelden "Boostio" Pupello will be joining their ranks for the 2024 VCT season. The news came via a creative video announcement that sees Boostio escape from a jail, a nod to reports of the VCT Champs roster being in contract jail with Evil Geniuses.

Boostio completes the 100 Thieves roster

100 Thieves have been on the lookout for a new IGL to lead their team since they let go of Brandon "Stellar" McGrath at the end of the 2023 VCT season. The organization posted a tweet teasing Boostio's arrival on December 21; with many fans speculating that he would be joining the team prior to it. Now, at long last, 100 Thieves have unveiled their new man.

100 Thieves VALORANT roster for VCT 2024:

  • Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk
  • Sean Christian "bang" Bezerra
  • Matthew Dylan "Cryocells" Panganiban
  • Daniel "eeiu" Vucenovic
  • Kelden Elric "Boostio" Pupello (IGL)

The Evil Geniuses championship winning roster split

Boostio and EG were winners of Champs 2023, however, following their victory reports soon emerged that due to financial difficulties that Evil Geniuses were downsizing their esports operations.

According to a report by Richard Lewis, Boostio and his championship winning team-mates were presented an ultimatum: take a significant pay-cut or find another team. Naturally the bulk of the team have sought pastures anew, with Demon1 and Ethan already joining NRG for the upcoming season.

Boostio has been a part of EG's roster for the best part of two years. In that time he led his team to a Top 3 finish in the inaugural Americas League season; with a little help from MIBR in the last game of the regular season.

They followed it up with a second place finish at Masters Tokyo and, most importantly, a first place at Champions LA.

While he primarily plays the Sentinel role, Boostio has shown himself capable of adopting a variety of roles. And quite capable in clutch situations. All of which should encourage the 100 Thieves faithful that the glory days could soon return.
