As we head into Week 2 of the VCT Pacific Stage 1, teams are scrambling to secure victories. The top three teams from the event will receive an invite to VCT Masters Shanghai and the stakes are high. Kicking things off is a match between Paper Rex and GenG. Paper Rex is one of the leading teams in the Pacific Region, while GenG is probably one of the challengers that can upset some of the best in the region. The teams kicked off the series on Lotus where PRX had a clear advantage. Their aggressive maneuvers meant they raced off to an 8-4 half despite losing the first rounds. However, once on the flip side, it was a similar scenario. PRX won the first two rounds, but GenG's attack was similarly potent. There were several moments of brilliance on both sides.







Mindfreak and something seemed to be in their element with 26 and 22 frags apiece. Meanwhile, on GenG it was also a similarly impressive performance by Meteor and t3xture. Even though the teams had strong performances on both sides, GenG's attack was much better than PRX allowing them to take the lead in the first map.



Paper Rex banned Icebox for eight times so far. But today, they picked Icebox in what was a definite surprise in the veto stage.

#5: Cloud9



Player to watch: Anthony "vanity" Malaspina



Cloud9 have struggled to find a steady stream of competitive success at the highest level of VALORANT esports, but this current team should have the fanbase as hopeful as ever. Led by long-time player and team captain, Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, the newly-retooled Cloud9 have just found themselves on the better end of a reverse sweep against Leviatán Esports in week 1 of the group stage.



It is just one win, but that was a tough series and one that, after map 1, I think many would have been shocked to see Cloud9 on the winning end of. With new talent still forming together and some much-needed firepower from Francis "OXY" Hoang, Cloud9 is a team to watch. Currently 1-0, they take on Evil Geniuses on April 15.



#4: G2 Esports



Player to watch: Jacob "icy" Lange



Speaking of Evil Geniuses, G2 Esports just managed to beat them in a somewhat decisive week 1 match, starting off on a wild 9-0 run on Icebox. This dominant win comes with huge credit to Jacob "valyn" Batio and Jonah "JonahP" Pulice, who both had stellar performances all match long.



However, a player to keep a close eye on for G2 moving forward will be their brand-new addition, the 20-year-old Jacob "icy" Lange. Icy struggled on Icebox while playing Gekko, but was able to contribute nicely while on the Raze in map 1 (Lotus). Much like Cloud9's new additions, icy will be one to keep a close eye on ahead of G2's week 2 matchup against 0-1 100Thieves.

The circle crosshair is one of the more beginner-friendly crosshairs in Riot’s FPS. The crosshair signals a decent balance between firepower and spatial awareness for a player. The regular season of the VCT rolls on, with Americas Stage 1 action in full swing. To start the second week, we've got a clouted matchup of G2 Esports vs 100 Thieves.



G2 made quite the statement against Evil Geniuses in Week 1, while 100T fell to defending Masters Madrid Champions, Sentinels. One will look to keep up the momentum, while the other hopes to gain some.

Both teams looked prime to have a big year, but Sentinels outshined them both on their way to a Masters Madrid win. After floundering in the VCT Americas Kickoff tournament, the start of Stage 1 is a way to turn over a new leaf, no pun intended.



G2 Esports already started on that path. With the addition of icy to their roster, dropping neT subsequently, they decimated Evil Geniuses. Only giving up 11 rounds across two maps showed that they are ready to take Americas by storm.



100 Thieves on the other hand were blasted by Sentinels. With a long-standing core and the addition of a World Champion IGL, many expected more out of them. They haven't won an official match since November at Red Bull Home Ground. They'll be looking to change their luck.

It's time for the French derby for VCT EMEA 2024 Stage 1, Karmine Corp and Gentle Mates face off on the server. Two of the biggest organizations in France will face each other in a duel that promises to be frenetic in the country and for fans of both.



Both teams arrive at this clash at different times of the season. Karmine Corp and Gentle Mates is more than just a game, it's a French derby.

This is the first duel between both teams this season. Karmine Corp comes from a good moment. Despite the recent surprising defeat against FUT Esports, the French organization was one of two qualified for the VCT Masters Madrid. The team was the grand champion of the EMEA Kickoff. At the international competition in Madrid, the team was eliminated at the Swiss Stage after defeats to Sentinels and Paper Rex.



At VCT EMEA 2024 Stage 1, as already mentioned, Karmine Corp has a defeat with FUT, but previously beat GIANTX and now face Gentle Mates. Coming from Europe's Ascension, Gentle Mates have already debuted in the league with a victory against the Turkish side from BBL Esports. In the second week of the league, Gentle Mates only has a match against KC.

It’s not just the venue that gets a makeover as the organizers are also looking to greet fans with an exciting format. The Red Bull Instalock 2024 will feature a unique format that imposes certain restrictions (or maybe it’ll be an advantage) on teams.




Each team will have to use three duelists




Three duelists mean fans can expect aggression galore with duelists often taking the lead in getting the first frags. With constant aggression, fans will be on the edge of their seats (at the venue or at home).

DRX and T1 esports face each other in the second match of Week 2. The two teams have had a very contrasting Week 1 with DRX undefeated so far, while T1 is yet to win a series in the VCT Stage 1 Pacific. However, T1 esports has shown it can be quite a challenger when it comes to these series and it wouldn’t be far-fetched for them to cause an upset here. DRX has been in splendid form this Stage 1 and they continued their performance in this series as well. Kicking things off with a 5-0 lead, DRX clearly showed fans who was the more dominant team in the series. 



However, T1 esports fought back and how! They managed to bring the score from a 6-1 deficit, tying the series at 1-1. 



The third map was once again a masterclass by DRX who seemed determined to get victory. Throughout the there maps, there have been instances of DRX showing their upper hand repeatedly, but they weren't able to convert it into a map win on Breeze.

Sentinels vs Leviatán: A duel of giants



It seems like a game of clear Sentinel favoritism, but leaving Leviatán aside could be dangerous. The South American organization has two world champions at its side, Erick "aspas" Santos and Corbin "C0M" Lee. In addition, the roster includes three other high-quality players.

This is the first time we ever meet, it's the first time we're gonna play together. And it can be like, really, really amazing things. It could be bad things and good things, but we're focusing on good things. I'm not gonna predict how we're going to play but personally, I think with the personalities in our team are really good. And I really like our chemistry.”

The first match of the VCT LOCK//IN OMEGA group will see Team Liquid take on Team Secret in the opening match. With three new players including Redgar as the IGL, the team’s focus in its initial months has been on establishing flawless communication and building on synergy. As the team’s IGL, Redgar has his task cut out for him in São Paulo.&nbsp;

The Alpha Group saw 16 teams start in eight single-elimination matches. Only eight teams survived the first round. But that wasn't the end. The teams continued through the group playing elimination match after elimination match until only two teams survived. The two semifinalists from the Alpha Group are LOUD and DRX. They will face each other on March 2 for a spot in the Grand Finals.
