Squirtle Squad and OREsports advance through LCQ of Valorant Challengers NA

#News

The final two teams have qualified for Valorant Challengers NA through a grueling LCQ with over 250 teams.

The first opportunity for non-partnered NA teams in Valorant continues. For many, it will also be the last. The event started with four teams joining the invited teams through a massive open qualifier. Now, the field is complete with the Last Chance Qualifier. The LCQ of Valorant Challengers NA rounded out with the main event with two more.
Another set of 256 began the LCQ, but only a pair made it through. Squirtle Squad and OREsports have punched their tickets to the Group Stage.

Squirtle Squad

  • Jack "Add3r" Hayashi
  • Peter "Governor" No
  • Mohammed "Harmful" Choudhary
  • Anthony "Okeanos" Nguyen
  • Matthew "Wedid" Suchan
Squirtle Squad advanced through the LCQ of Valorant Challengers NA without dropping a series. They were the upper bracket qualifying team, toppling the likes of Rat Attack, The Nation, and OREsports. In the original open qualifier, the team dropped out in the Top 32's Lower Round 2.
This is a name that most Tier 2 NA Valorant fans are familiar with. The current iteration has several combined T2 first place finishes. The roster boasts players formerly of Complexity, TSM Academy, Knights Academy, and of course, Wedid who was once a part of both XSET and NRG.

OREsports

  • Jonard "Jonaaa6" Penaflor
  • Dayton "Lear" Akau
  • Vincent "PureVNS" Nguyen
  • Chase "nillyaz" Linder
  • Elijah "Zeldris" Hawkins
Squirtle Squad sent OREsports to the Lower Final, where they made an incredible comeback to win in overtime against Soniqs. Their perseverance in the final map is what pushed them through the LCQ of Valorant Challengers NA. This comes after winning tough battles over teams such as Nearest Airport and Moon Raccoons.
Much like the upper bracket team, these are names with a lot of T2 Valorant experience. They are no stranger to first place in NSG and Knights Arena tournaments. A talented group is highlighted by Jonaaa6 and Lear, who teamed together on Andbox/NYFU and Zero MarksMen Black.
Congratulations to both teams on advancing. Stay tuned to Esports.gg for more Valorant news and coverage as all levels of the VCT get underway.
