Speedrunning, PvP, Deathwing — oh my!

World of Warcraft (WoW) esports has announced competitive events in honor of the WoW Cataclysm Classic launch! These esports activities include the Dragonslayer Challenge plus Cataclysm Arena Tournament 2024.

WoW esports gets Dragonslayer Challenge

First up, the Dragonslayer Challenge will be all about speedrunning. Happening between June 8 and June 9, this event will feature the Progress and None of the Above guilds racing against time to conquer the Blackwing Descent raid.

The twist? These guilds will neither have easy access to the top-tier items nor all the time in the world to get the best gear possible. According to the official announcement, the Dragonslayer Challenge will only give these guilds basic characters at level 85 and limited time to gear up.

Fans and supporters will be able to catch all of the Dragonslayer Challenge action over on WoW's official Twitch and YouTube channels.

Next, the Cataclysm Arena Tournament will be an epic showdown featuring the top competitors from North America (NA) and Europe (EU). Between June 14 and June 16, players will duke it out against each other for the lion's share of the combined $50,000 USD prize pool.

Registration for this particular tournament will start on June 7 at 10 a.m. PDT on the Raider.io website. Then, an offline bracket will happen on June 12. Only eight teams will battle for the crown in the WoW Classic Cataclysm Arena Tournament between June 14 and June 16.

Additionally, just like the upcoming Dragonslayer Challenge, folks can watch the esports action over on Twitch and YouTube.

That's everything we know about both WoW esports events so far. Until these events kick off, you can jump into WoW Cataclysm Classic itself and experience its dungeons, zones, raids, and more.
