Can I pet that DAWG?
One of the most interesting new scorestreaks in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the DAWG. As the name suggests, this is a canine streak, but it's not like the dogs that COD fans know from previous games. Instead, it's a robotic dog that goes around the map and shoots at an enemy that gets in its way. While this alone is enough to use the scorestreak, Treyarch has also added a way to pet the DAWG in Black Ops 7.
That's right, you can pet your own DAWG for being a good boy/girl/robot. IF you want to show the DAWG some love in Black Ops 7, check out the guide below to see exactly how you can give it a little pet on the head in multiplayer.
Petting the DAWG in Black Ops 7
Fortunately, you don't have to go through a convoluted button-mashing process to pet the DAWG. First and foremost, though, you need to actually the DAWG yourself. From what we can tell, you can only pet the DAWG if you're the player to call it in. So this means you can't pet another player's DAWG scorestreak while it's patrolling the map.

We've already covered every scorestreak and how to earn them in Black Ops 7, but the DAWG currently costs 1,000 score to earn in multiplayer. After you earn 1,000 score with the DAWG equipped as a scorestreak, you can call it in on the map you're playing. The DAWG drops from the sky like a Care Package does, so make sure you place the marker down in an open space.
Once the DAWG drops onto the map, it will begin patrolling for enemies to kill. To pet the DAWG, all you have to do is this:
- Approach the DAWG from its front side (the way it's looking and walking)
- Once you're close enough, you'll see a prompt on your screen that says "Hold __ to pet the DAWG"
- The button you have to press will be different depending on your platform, but for controllers, it's usually X on Xbox and Square on PlayStation
- After you press and hold the required button, your character will pet the DAWG on its "head" for a second or two, and then the DAWG will continue patrolling the map
The pet animation doesn't take too long, but it does stop you and the DAWG from looking out for enemies, so you have to be mindful of the situation around you when trying to pet the robot.
That's everything you need to know about petting the DAWG in Black Ops 7. It's an easy process, but be careful, as too much petting might get you killed once or twice.
