Your Melee Weapon can be equipped with one simple button.

While the main focus in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is on all of the different guns available to players, it's important not to forget about melee weapons. These have a few purposes in multiplayer, but perhaps the most popular way to use them is to gain extra movement speed when one is equipped. Aside from that, you can use a melee weapon to quickly eliminate a target in close range or just go around the map with it in place of a regular gun.

In any case, there are a couple of melee weapons available in Black Ops 7, and they have their own dedicated slot on your loadout. However, you need to press a specific button in order to equip and then unequip a melee weapon. Below, you can see exactly what you need to do to bring out a melee weapon in BO7.

How to equip a Melee Weapon in Black Ops 7

Fortunately, there's not much to equipping your melee weapon in multiplayer or Zombies. All it takes is the press and hold of a single button.

Here's how to pull out a melee weapon in Black Ops 7:

  • With either your primary or secondary weapon equipped, press and hold your "Reload" button (Circle/B on controller by default)
  • This will bring out the melee weapon that you have equipped on your current loadout
  • To unequip your melee weapon, press and hold the Reload button again
  • Doing this makes you bring out the last weapon you had equipped. So if you switch to your melee from your secondary, you'll equip your secondary when switching back
  • The animation to swap between your gun and melee weapon can be a bit delayed, so make sure you leave enough time for the animation to work

There's not much more to equipping and unequipping your melee weapon in Black Ops 7. At the launch of the game, you'll have access to the Flatline Mk.II and the standard Combat Knife, but there should be even more melee weapon options in the future.
