The Wall Jump mechanic is brand new in Black Ops 7, but how do you use it?

One of the most exciting new mechanics being introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the Wall Jump. This is another addition to the core movement in multiplayer, as you can propel yourself off walls and other surfaces on any map. There are certain limitations with the Wall Jump mechanic that make it more grounded than a jetpack from previous Call of Duty titles.

However, it should add a new skill gap to the movement mechanics in Black Ops 7 that we haven't seen before. If you're looking to start mastering the Wall Jump in multiplayer, check out the guide below to see exactly how to use the mechanic.

How to use the Wall Jump movement in Black Ops 7

The basic Wall Jump mechanic is fairly simple to use in Black Ops 7. The restrictions that come with it is where you'll need to pay attention, though.

Here's how to do a basic Wall Jump:

  • Approach any flat surface from an angle and get a running start (you can also Wall Jump a surface by approaching it head-on, but an angle works best)
  • Jump into the surface, and when you make contact with it, press your "jump" button again
  • This will make you bounce off the wall, sending you airborne much higher than a regular jump would take you

A single Wall Jump is not a difficult mechanic, as all you need to do is find a flat surface that matches or exceeds your character's height and jump into it to initiate it. You'll find that many of the maps in Black Ops 7 feature areas dedicated to Wall Jumping, and the walls in these areas allow you to easily jump off of them and reach new locations that are unavailable by normal means.

Where things get tricky with the Wall Jump is when you try and do additional jumps. This is known as "chaining" Wall Jumps. When you try to chain a second Wall Jump after your first one, you need to know about some restrictions:

  • You can only chain three total Wall Jumps together. After your third Wall Jump, you won't be able to do another one until your feet have hit the ground
  • After each subsequent Wall Jump, you will lose significant height and momentum, meaning you can't keep ascending higher and higher with every new Wall Jump
  • Most maps in Black Ops 7 have certain areas where chaining Wall Jumps makes sense, but most areas you'll see only have room for a single Wall Jump

As long as you know those restrictions and you're mindful of them when trying to Wall Jump, you should be able to master the mechanic in no time. The biggest struggle for many players in Black Ops 7 will be figuring out where you can successfully chain Wall Jumps and how to use the mechanic to gain a consistent advantage over enemies.

Using too many Wall Jumps can often result in your character being too vulnerable, taking away your advantage. So take some time to practice the mechanic and learn when to use it, and when to simply slide or hold an iron sight.
