Another new weapon archetype arrived with Festival of the Lost — the first ever burst shotgun, Arcane Embrace.
Festival of the Lost brings a few classic weapons back in Destiny 2, but oftentimes a new addition breaks the game's meta. Arcane Embrace just does that thanks to its unique intrinsic trait that hasn't been seen on a shotgun before.
This is a Heavy Burst slug shotgun, firing two pellets back-to-back with great accuracy. A single pellet does significantly less than a standard slug shotgun, but don't worry — you're firing two! Land both and you'll hit damage numbers not thought possible on a Legendary shotgun before.
Here's a look at the Arcane Embrace shotgun in Destiny 2, complete with our god roll picks.
What is the Arcane Embrace god roll in Destiny 2?
Arcane Embrace PvE god roll
Column | Perk(s) |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk One | Fourth Time's The Charm Grave Robber |
Perk Two | Precision Instrument |
Origin Trait, Weapon Mod, Masterwork | Search Party (Origin Trait) Backup Mag (Weapon Mod) Range (Masterwork) |
We're going for full precision damage upgrades with the Arcane Embrace perk selection. Fourth Time's The Charm feeds more ammo into the shotgun as long as you hit subsequent headshots. Combined with Precision Instrument for a damage boost, Arcane Embrace is one of the best slug shotguns for boss damage in the game.
You can switch out Fourth Times for Grave Robber for that instant reload on melee hit. Max out the weapon's range as it has a forgiving recoil profile. Otherwise, it's business as usual for this one — the Voltshot and Desperado perks look fun on paper but don't flow well with how the shotgun should be used.
Arcane Embrace PvP god roll
Column | Perk(s) |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk One | Lone Wolf Threat Detector |
Perk Two | Closing Time |
Origin Trait, Weapon Mod, Masterwork | Search Party (Origin Trait) Counterbalance Stock (Weapon Mod) Range (Masterwork) |
Slug shotguns (outside of The Chaperone) aren't ideal for PvP, and neither is Arcane Embrace. In most cases, you'll need to hit both shots of the burst for the kill.
If you're willing to give it a go, pick up Lone Wolf and Closing Time for an all-around stat boost. Range, accuracy, handling, aim down sight speed, and aim assist are all boosted with these perks.
Threat Detector is also solid in the Crucible. The perks work great with the Origin Trait Search Party and hitting multiple burst headshots feels fantastic — just make sure you land your shots and conserve your ammo!
How to get Arcane Embrace in Destiny 2
Arcane Embrace can be obtained by completing the Festival of the Lost questline and activities in Destiny 2. The weapon will drop with the curated Trench Barrel roll by equipping a Festival of the Lost mask and progressing Eva Levante's quest.
You can obtain copies of the weapon by completing the quest steps as well as Haunted Lost Sectors and other Festival of the Lost activities. You can also spend Candy and Eerie Engrams for an Arcane Embrace with random rolled perks. Arcane Embrace won't be obtainable once Festival of the Lost ends, so pick one up quickly!
Arcane Embrace cannot be crafted. Those chasing improved versions of the weapon's perks can enhance the weapon and level it up.
