How to get Arcanas, the highest-tier skin in Dota 2

The flashiest skins in the game don’t come cheap.

Arcanas are the ultimate way to flex in Dota 2, but the method for how to get them can vary. The skins completely overhaul Heroes into something new, whether that’s turning Pudge into an eldritch abomination or giving Ogre Magi a chicken to ride on. As the flashiest skins in the game, you may think that they just cost a whole bunch of money. They do, but it's not as easy as just swiping your credit card.

If you’re looking to add some razzle dazzle to your Dota 2 collection, here’s how to get all Arcanas currently available in the game.

Which Dota 2 Arcanas can you buy in 2024?

The first category of Arcanas is the easier type to get. These are purchasable directly from Valve or through the Steam Market. The following Arcanas are all available through the in-game Dota 2 Store for $35 each, by order of release:

  • Lina’s Fiery Soul of the Slayer
  • Legion Commander’s Blades of Voth Domosh
  • Terrorblade’s Fractal Horns of Inner Abysm
  • Techies’ Swine of the Sunken Galley
  • Shadow Fiend’s Demon Eater
  • Phantom Assassin’s Manifold Paradox
  • Crystal Maiden’s Frost Avalanche
  • Zeus’ Tempest Helm of the Thundergod
  • Monkey King’s Great Sage's Reckoning
  • Juggernaut’s Bladeform Legacy
  • Pudge’s Feast of Abscession
  • Rubick’s The Magus Cypher
  • Ogre Magi’s Flockheart's Gamble

These 13 Arcanas are all for sale directly from Valve, but there’s another way to get them for cheaper. Dota 2 players can sell the above Arcanas on the Steam Market, and they all go for cheaper than $35. Shadow Fiend’s Demon Eater is the cheapest, currently selling for as little as $23. The only downside to this method is that some Arcanas may be missing gems and inscriptions. Make sure to check the exact item details before purchasing Arcanas for cheap on the Steam Market.

In addition, there is also an extremely small chance to get an Arcana for free as an in-game drop. Each week, Dota 2 accounts get a single free cosmetic just for playing the game. There’s a very, very small chance that your free drop can be one of the Arcanas listed above. These sets are untradable and locked to your account, but it's hard to complain about a free top-tier cosmetic.

Battle Pass exclusives are a lot harder to get

In addition to purchasable Arcanas, many top-tier Dota 2 cosmetics were only available through a certain Battle Pass for a limited time. These cannot be purchased through the Market or traded between accounts. Here are all of the limited Arcanas in the game by order of release:

  • Io’s Benevolent Companion
  • Earthshaker’s Planetfall
  • Wraith King’s The One True King
  • Queen of Pain’s The Eminence of Ristul
  • Windranger’s Compass of the Rising Gale
  • Spectre’s Phantom Advent
  • Drow Ranger’s Dread Retribution
  • Faceless Void’s Claszian Apostasy
  • Razor’s Voidstorm Asylum

For new players, there is no consistent way to get these Arcanas. However, Valve has recently introduced a new system in 2024 to make them more accessible.

For the first time, Valve has revealed Arcana variants with the Frostivus chest-exclusive King Kringle, a Christmas-y version of The One True King. Players who open or purchase The One True King get the original Battle Pass-locked version for free. It's the first Arcana variant ever, so expect to see more Battle Pass sets in the future.
