Fortnite’s Hero Rank system from Chapter 6 Season 3 is now the OXR Rank system in Season 4. Here’s how it works!

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 arrives in just one day. It will introduce many new features when it drops, including new weapons and skins. However, one aspect of Season 3 will return with a makeover. The Hero Rank system, now known as OXR, is back in Fortnite and operates similarly to how Season 3 did.

Each player will start at a certain rank in a given match and can progress through the ranks by completing in-game tasks, such as eliminating players. This article highlights everything you need to know about the OXR Rank system to prepare you for what lies ahead.

All players will begin each match at rank C, and you can progressively rank up while you remain alive. Although it's unclear what tasks will grant a rank-up, Season 3 worked off of eliminations, Storm Phase survival, taking Sprites to Shrines, and more.

The more tasks you complete, the more your rank will increase from C through eventually S+ if you manage to survive long enough. It's worth noting that your Fortnite teammates will all share the same OXR rank in game Duos, Trios, and Squads.

What is the benefit of ranking up?

Whenever your OXR Rank increases, an OXR Drop Pod will arrive at your location with loot suitable for that rank. The loot will progressively improve from B through S+. For example, you will receive a Super Soldier Boon, which grants certain benefits at rank B, and those benefits will increase with each rank.

Upon reaching rank A, you will receive access to OXR Bunkers, where you can find some of the best loot available in the lobby, including new Exotic weapons introduced in Chapter 6 Season 4. Those fortunate enough to reach the maximum rank of S+ will receive a random Mythic weapon in their Drop Pod.
