September 12, 2024 PS5 system update

It is a big day for PS5 users, as the new update has quite a bit to offer. Here is a list of every new feature in the new PS5 system update:

  • Welcome Hub
  • Party Share
  • Personalized 3D audio
  • Adjust Remote Play
  • Adaptive controller charging

So, what do all of these new features offer? Let's break down each one.

Welcome Hub

PlayStation just introduced an all-new Welcome Hub for the PS5. This personalized space is customizable, so gamers can create a home page that caters to exactly what makes them comfortable.

The Welcome Hub will feature various different widgets to choose from and will allow players to change its background design and more.

Party Share

Party Share is a new feature that will allow PS5 users to share party voice chat links on any messaging or social media app. The feature is not available for everyone yet and will continue rolling out over the coming weeks.

What this means, though, is that PS5 gamers will be able to create a party chat and then send it to all of their friends to join. You will be able to send it through Twitter, Facebook, iMessage and more.

Personalized 3D audio

Ready to fully immerse yourself into your favorite video game? The new personalized 3D audio feature will run a set of audio tests on you, personalizing your hearing experience to exactly what works best for you.

Everyone hears things differently, and with so many factors coming in to play, this new feature will make sure every player has their own comfortable experience.

This feature is not available for everyone just yet. It will be slowly rolling out over the next few weeks.

Remote Play

Remote Play is a new feature that allows for players to adjust other PlayStation Network accounts connected to their gaming controller. For instance, a friend or family member may log in to their account using your PS5. Once they leave, you can hit a switch that keeps their information on the PS5, but not force the controller to sign them in automatically every time you log in.

It's a pretty seamless feature and is something many have wished PlayStation would implement for a long time.

Adaptive charging

Adaptive charging is now available for PS5 Slim consoles and PS5 Pro consoles. What this does, is when your remote is plugged in while the console is in rest mode, the PS5 will only use enough power to charge the controller fully.

This will help save quite a bit of energy and is extremely efficient.
