What is the expected price of the Switch 2?
Following the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, many fans had more questions than answers. The reveal showcased the console itself, the new Joycons, and a look at another possible Mario Kart installment. However, not much else was shown off, leaving players to especially wonder how much the Switch 2 will cost.
As with any new product, the price is always going to be a sticking point with consumers. The cost of the Switch 2 will determine if players make the upgrade from the original Switch or if they purchase one at all. While we don't know the official prices for the Switch 2 yet, some rumors are floating around that we can dive into.
What is the cost of the Nintendo Switch 2?
Currently, there is a rumored price list for the Switch 2 making the rounds on social media. This list is by no means confirmed and it could be completely wrong. However, one leak is apparently from a retail worker at a store called Micromania and they seemingly have a full price sheet for the console.
According to the list, and several other predictions by industry analysts, the Switch 2 is going to cost $400 at launch.
The leak also states the Switch 2 will have 25 launch games designed for the console and a Limited Edition bundle that will cost more than the standard price.
The games themselves will supposedly cost $60 to $70, which has become the industry standard for PlayStation and Xbox games. With the original Switch, though, games were usually kept around $50 or $60, so this would be a slight increase in an effort to keep revenue consistent.

When will the Switch 2 price be officially revealed?
While we have the Switch 2 price leaks, when can you actually expect an official price tag from Nintendo? Well, the easiest answer is at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event, which is set to take place on April 2. This is where Nintendo will showcase more of the console's specs and potentially some of the launch games you can expect with it. It happens right before the various Switch 2 Experience events where players can get hands-on time with the console.
There's also a rumored games-specific event for the Switch 2 that will dive deeper into some of the most notable games designed for the console. However, it's hard to see Nintendo unveiling the price anywhere but the Direct.
When the price is revealed, that's when pre-orders will likely go live. Of course, games that are designed for the Switch 2 can have their pre-orders go live at any time, as they're not required to abide by Nintendo's timeline any longer.
We'll have to see how this plays out, but in all likelihood, expect the Switch 2 price to be officially announced at the Direct.
