Today Hearthstone announced Festival of Legends, the first expansion for 2023, and with it, the new Finale Keyword. Artists know that a grand Finale can make the difference between a regular show and an outstanding performance. Learn everything you need to know about the upcoming Finale Keyword.
Hearthstone's new Keyword: Finale
Each expansion has a story to tell, and they do that via the different game mechanics. Festival of Legends Hearthstone expansion is no different, and thus it brings the new Finale Keyword.
"Every great musician knows to close each show with a bang for maximum effect. Plan out your turns like a setlist and end on your grand Finale!"
Hearthstone cards with the Finale Keyword have special bonus effects that activate if playing them spends all your remaining mana. This means that sequencing your decisions will become more important than ever in the game.

For example, if you play a Ghost Writer when you have exactly 5 mana left, you will get twice the value, discovering two spells instead of just one. Hearthstone devs often try to present players with these types of desitions, where they need to choose if they want to get the full value of a card or if they can get away with whatever they can get.
Hearthstone has only revealed two cards that include the Finale Keyword so far. At a first glance, their base version isn't too powerful, but when you can activate the bonus effect, things sound different.
Previous expansion keywords
Following the same tune, previous Hearthstone expansions have had other Keywords that were part of their stories, as Finale does for Festival of Legends. During 2022 we saw the arrival of the following expansion Keywords:
- Voyage to the Sunken City: Dredge and Colossal
- Murder at Castle Nathria: Infuse
- March of the Lich King: Manathirst and Corpse
