Here are our recommendations for strong yet easy-to-use Farm Lane Heroes in Honor of Kings (HoK) that are perfect for beginners.

Honor of Kings (HoK), like other MOBA games, features playable heroes classified based on their role. One of these positions is the Farm Lane, similar to the Marksman or Carry role in other games.

Although Farm Lane Heroes in Honor of Kings have one similarity which is a ranged attack, they do have different gameplays, from those who just need to sit tight at the backline while dealing damage, to the opposites who need to risk themselves and jump into the middle of teamfight.

These are 5 HoK Farm Lane Heroes that are recommended for beginners.

1. Hou Yi

  1. Chastising Shot (Passive): Basic Attack hits grant Attack Speed and 1 stack of enhancement. At 3 stacks, enhanced Basic Attacks shoot 3 arrows, dealing more total damage than a regular Basic Attack.
  2. Arrow Volley (Skill 1): Enhances Basic Attacks for 5s to deal heavy damage. At the same time, Hou Yi shoots arrows to hit two other enemies in front of him, dealing 50% damage.
  3. Afterglow (Skill 2): Inflicts damage and slow on enemies in the target area while also gaining vision of the area.
  4. Burning Sun Arrow (Ultimate): Fires an arrow in the target direction. Deals AoE damage upon hitting a hero, inflicting stun and slow.

Author’s Note: Hou Yi is a very simple marksman that relies on basic attacking. Combine his Passive and Skill 1 to kite enemies from a safe position, and use his Ultimate to engage or disengage.

Hou Yi is one of the easiest Heroes in the game, as players have to be able to play him to some extent to finish the tutorial phase.

Compared to other Farm Lane Heroes, Hou Yi’s skill sets are very simple and easy to understand: Skill 1 that boosts Basic Attack Speed and can hit multiple targets, Skill 2 that slows and deals AoE damage, and a global Ultimate that deals CC.

To play Hou Yi, you just need to kite your enemies using auto attack while also minding your positioning. Build him around items and arcana that gives attack speed and basic attack boost.

2. Di Renjie

  1. Swift Justice (Passive): Basic Attacks add stacks, for up to 5 stacks, with each attack granting extra Attack Speed and Movement Speed.
  2. Respect the Law (Skill 1): Flings tokens at a target area in a fan shape, dealing damage. Passive: After every 2 Basic Attacks, the next Basic Attack gains a random enhancement.
  3. Legal Immunity (Skill 2): Throws tokens to damage nearby enemies. Removes debuffs from yourself and grants brief invisibility.
  4. Imperial Order (Ultimate): Flings a token in the target direction, inflicting damage and stun on the first enemy hero hit and reducing their Physical and Magical Defense.

Author’s Note: Di Renjie relies on optimizing his passive stacks to gain extra attack speed and movement speed. Try reaching maximum stacks to make it easier to kite enemies, and use Skill 2 to escape from debuffs and CC.

Di Renjie’s play style is very similar to Hou Yi – both have their Passive and Skill 1 that boost their basic attacks. Di Renjie is considered as harder to play because he has to keep his stacks at five to optimize his passive, while Hou Yi only needs three.

One of Di Renjie’s strong points is a self-purifier on his Skill 2 that makes him able to escape from CC and remove debuffs. When building Di Renjie, ones usually go for attack speed and a little bit of tank items to increase his survivability.

3. Lady Sun

  1. Energy Burst (Passive): Basic Attacks reduce the cooldown of Skill 1.
  2. Rolling Raid (Skill 1): Rolls in the target direction, granting extra range and a piercing effect to the next Basic Attack. Gain increased Movement Speed if there are enemy heroes nearby after rolling.
  3. Frag Grenade (Skill 2): Throws a grenade at the target location, damaging, marking, and sundering hit enemies, Her Basic Attack deals extra damage to marked targets.
  4. Ultimate Shell (Ultimate): Fires a shell in the target direction, dealing AoE damage when enemies are hit or when exploding at max range.

Author’s Note: Lady Sun uses her low-cooldown Skill 1 to deal damage while also kiting her enemies. Use it effectively to position yourself better during teamfight, and use your passive to reduce its cooldown.

Lady Sun is a Farm Lane Hero with high mobility, having a low-cooldown Skill 1 that makes her able to roll around and pass through certain terrain while also enhancing her next basic attack. You can also reduce the skill’s cooldown further by hitting your basic attack.

Use Skill 2 in teamfights to sunder enemies so you can maximize your damage output. Her Ultimate, although has a long range and low cooldown, is the least useful of her skill sets because it has no other effect other than dealing AoE damage.

4. Consort Yu

  1. Blessing of the Dryads (Passive): Consort Yu’s Basic Attacks have a chance of firing 2 bolts and inflicting slow. When her Attack Speed is increased to a certain threshold, her Skill 1 and Ultimate are enhanced.
  2. Oak Bolt (Skill 1): Consort Yu fires bolts in a target direction to deal damage. When her Attack Speed is increased to a certain threshold, Skill 1 is enhanced.
  3. Protecting Winds (Skill 2): Consort Yu gains Movement Speed boost and physical damage immunity, has all slow effects removed, and her next Basic Attack is enhanced. She also gains a permanent Attack Speed boost.
  4. Vaulting Shot (Ultimate): Consort Yu slows and stuns the target, then leaps backward, gaining crowd control immunity and dealing damage. After the leap, Attack Speed is enhanced. When her Attack Speed is increased to a certain threshold, her Ultimate is enhanced.

Author’s Note: Consort Yu is a scaling Farm Laner that masters the art of dueling. Build her Attack Speed to gain permanent enhancement on Skill 1 and Ultimate.

Consort Yu is another Farm Lane Hero that relies on Attack Speed, but not only to boost her basic attack, but also to permanently empower her Skill 1 and Ultimate.

Her Skill 1 deals a massive damage to a straight line, making it easier for players to farm while also hitting enemy Heroes hiding behind minions. Additionally, her Skill 2 gives her upper hand when dueling with the enemy's Farm Laner, thanks to the physical damage immunity.

Her Ultimate is also a strong addition to her dueling power. But since it's a single target ability, it is not recommended to be used to jump into the middle of teamfight, unless you are very confident.

5. Shouyue

  1. Accuracy (Passive): Basic Attacks deal extra damage, and Critical Rate is converted into Physical Attack. Extra Critical Rate increases Basic Attack damage. When out of combat and next to a wall, gains disguise and Movement Speed.
  2. The Tranquil Eye (Skill 1): Shouyue places a device that continuously grants vision. Passive: Gains increased Physical Pierce when standing still, but loses it when moving.
  3. Wild Wind (Skill 2): Fires in the target direction, damaging and slowing the target hit.
  4. Getaway (Ultimate): Leaps backwards and fires in the target direction, damaging and slowing the target hit while gaining Movement Speed. Rounds stocked are shared with Skill 2. Passive: Increases Basic Attack range.

Author’s Note: Shouyue is a master sniper that bursts enemies from afar using his Skill 2. However, he needs to stand still most of the time, so make sure to mind your surroundings.

Shouyue is a bit different from the rest of Farm Laners in this list. While the others mostly rely on their basic attack and kiting abilities, Shouyue only uses one skill most of the time – Skill 2. It’s not even an exaggeration if we say Shouyue only needs Skill 1 to win a laning phase.

His Skill 2 can burst an enemy Hero from afar. Sometimes you only need three clean hits to eliminate an enemy. However, you need to be very good at skillshots to optimize this Hero’s potential.

His Ultimate can be used to escape from enemies’ flanks, but do note that this skill has a rather long cooldown. While his Skill 1’s active is worthless, the skill’s passive is useful to boost your Skill 2’s damage.

Di Renjie, Lady Sun, and Consort Yu are considered as S-rank Farm Lane Heroes during the season. Stay tuned on esports.gg for more HoK Heroes recommendations, guides, news and more!
