Overwatch 2 tanks for beginners

D.Va

When it comes to tanks, D.Va is a hero who is quite easy to understand. For example, she has Boosters for speed and flight, Defense Matrix to eat projectiles, and her Self-Destruct ultimate that causes her mech to explode. Her primary fire, Fusion Cannons, don't require players to reload, either. The same goes for her Micro Missiles ability.

It's also worth it to note that when D.Va uses her Self-Destruct ultimate or if her mech loses all of its health, she ejects herself out of it. If she gets back into her mech and an enemy hero is within its damage radius, then the enemy gets squished!

Orisa

Another easy Overwatch 2 tank hero for those just starting out in the game is Orisa. Thanks to her Fortify ability, she has high survivability. Fortify not only grants Orisa temporary health, but also reduces all damage taken and makes her unstoppable.

Meanwhile, her Energy Javelin and Javelin Spin abilities are easy to understand. Energy Javelin launches a weapon to stun and knock back an enemy while Javelin Spin blocks melee attacks and destroys projectiles. As for Orisa's ultimate, it's Terra Surge. She stays in one spot and spins her weapon, charging it up for damage. Simply left-click to unleash it.

Overwatch 2 DPS for beginners

Soldier: 76

As for damage heroes, Soldier: 76 is a familiar choice for those who are looking to jump from, for example, the Call of Duty franchise to Overwatch 2. He's also the hero in the Overwatch 2 tutorial, which gives new players an introduction to the game's controls and how to use abilities and ultimates.

The Soldier: 76 tutorial can be played at any time as well. Simply launch Overwatch 2, select "Play" from the main menu, click on the "Training" option, and choose the "Tutorial" card.

Torbjorn

Remember Engineer from Team Fortress 2? Similar to him, Torbjorn can build turrets and hit them. In Torbjorn's case, he can deploy self-building ones and repair or upgrade them. Upgrading them requires Perks such as Craftsmen, Anchor Bolts, and Overloaded Turret. However, do remember that Overwatch 2 heroes can only choose one minor and one major Perk per match.

Basically, Torbjorn's turrets don't require aim. If you'd like to become a Torbjorn connoisseur, then it's a good idea to experiment with different turret locations as well. You might find a good angle that hasn't been discovered yet thanks to the Anchor Bolts Perk! This Perk lets Torbjorn attach his turret to walls and ceilings.

Moira

Speaking of heroes that don't necessarily require a lot of aim for high impact, Moira is a great choice for beginners. Her left-click heals teammates while her right-click sucks the life out of her enemies. She also has healing and damage orbs that she can send off into the distance. Meanwhile, her Coalescence ultimate damages and heals at the same time!

Moira even has Fade that can be used to disappear, move faster, and make her invulnerable. It can be a bit jarring while using it at first, but with some practice, it's quite a useful ability. This is especially so when paired with either her Vanish or Uprush Perk.

Mercy

Finally, we have Mercy. She's one of Overwatch 2's most well-known heroes. Her Caduceus Staff can heal an ally or boost their damage. She can even revive an ally with Resurrect and fly towards a teammate with Guardian Angel.

When Mercy uses her Valkyrie ultimate, she gains the ability to fly without the need for her weapon’s beam to be connected to an ally. Her abilities are also enhanced during this ultimate. Don't forget to practice staying up in the air with Mercy, either. She can also use her Caduceus Blaster in certain situations. Can you imagine a Mercy using her Valkyrie ultimate and chasing after you with only her blaster? It can be quite hilarious.
