Confirmed and rumored Pokémon games to release on Switch 2

It has been a hectic past few days ever since the Switch 2 was officially announced. While no games have been confirmed (aside from Mario Kart), many gamers have begun to speculate on what
Pokémon games will be released within the first year or two of the Switch 2's lifespan.

Here are all the confirmed and possibly rumored Pokémon games to release on the Switch 2.

While we do not know a release date for the Switch 2, we do know that it will be hitting stores sometime in 2025. Many believe this release time to be around May or June, as more details on the console are set to be revealed during a Nintendo Direct in early April.

So, what Pokémon games do we know will be released on the Switch 2? At the moment, there is only one:

Announced back in 2024, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the second title in the Legends franchise, a follow-up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The series takes place years before any of the other Pokémon games, as it follows players in a world still not fully developed, as trainers are still learning quite a bit about Pokémon.

Z-A is set to take place in an early version of Kalos, which is where Pokémon X and Y take place. This game is set to release in late 2025, meaning it will be one of the first titles released on the Switch 2.

At the moment, there are only rumors surrounding other Pokémon games being released on Switch 2, but a few seem to have a shred of solid evidence behind their release.

First off, we all know that Pokémon always expands its universe with every hand-held console. Since the release of the Game Boy, Nintendo has made sure fans get a brand new generation of Pokémon each time a new hand-held is released.

In fact, the regular Switch had two different new generations released: Sword/Shield and Violet/Scarlett.

So, it would make complete sense for them to release an all-new generation on the Switch 2. The series seems to model each new game off an actual region on Earth. Where do you think the next game will be modeled after?

Pokémon also loves giving gamers remakes of past games with each console. The Switch had a remake of Gen 4, which was Pearl and Diamond, and Gen 1. The 3DS had a remake of Ruby and Saphire while the regular DS released a remake of Silver and Gold.

It would just make sense for the game to release another remake, maybe even a few like the Switch did. So, what could they remake? Well, many have begged for another remake of Silver and Gold, the actual next game to be remade is Black and White (Gen 5).

So, are we looking at a chance to see the Nintendo DS games to be remade for the Switch 2? More than likely.
