Espurr is an elusive creature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, so here’s how to catch it.
In the first few Wild Zones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you'll find that the Pokémon are quite easy to catch. All it takes is a couple of attacks, a regular Poké Ball, and you'll catch the pocket monster you're going for in a single try. However, there are a couple of exceptions to this rule, and one of those exceptions is Espurr. Espurr can be found in one of the first Wild Zones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but you might have an incredibly difficult time catching it.
Fortunately, you can see the best way to catch Espurr and add it to your party in the guide below.
Catching Espurr in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
First and foremost, Espurr can be found in Wild Zone 3, which can be found just north of the Prism Tower in the central part of Lumiose City. You'll find it directly south of Wild Zone 4 and right near the Looker Bureau, where Emma's base of operations is located. Other Pokémon found in Wild Zone 3 are: Skiddo, Pancham, Litleo, Flabebe, and Pikachu. Each Pokémon in this Wild Zone has its own section where it can be found.

Unlike all the rest of those wild Pokémon, though, Espurr can't be caught by battling and then throwing a Poké Ball. If you've tried to catch Espurr before, you've likely run into the Pokémon's party trick, which is disappearing a couple of seconds after it sees you. Espurr can teleport around its section in Wild Zone 3, but after a couple of teleports, it will disappear from the area entirely.
You can reset Espurr in Wild Zone 3 by leaving and coming back through the Wild Zone gate, but this only works half of the time in our experience. Still, even knowing that information doesn't help you actually catch Espurr.

To successfully get Espurr inside a Poké Ball, you'll have to follow these steps:
- Find Espurr within its section in Wild Zone 3 and sneak up behind it by pressing on the left joystick
- This makes your character crouch and undetectable by Pokémon as long as they aren't facing you
- When you have a clear shot at Espurr, throw a Poké Ball at it
- You can't battle Espurr, as you likely won't be able to do enough damage to lower its HP all the way to have a free shot at catching it
- Instead, you have to hope that your Poké Ball does the job on the first attempt
- If it doesn't, you can quickly try to throw another before Espurr disappears
- If Espurr does disappear, look for it around its area in Wild Zone 3. If you find it again, repeat the process. If you can't find Espurr, though, leave Wild Zone 3 and come back until it reappears

Unfortunately, luck plays a major role in catching Espurr during the early game of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Until you can deal enough damage to lower all of Espurr's HP, your best bet is to throw Poké Balls when it's at full HP and hope it sticks.
