Get your team ready for the Pokémon GO Holiday Cup: Little Edition.

The Holiday Cup is back in Pokémon GO PvP until December 24. The Holiday Cup operates as this time as a Little Edition, meaning that Pokémon cannot be higher than 500 CP with additional restrictions on top. That means that your usual Little Cup team will not apply.

The Pokémon GO Holiday Cup is focused on Normal, Grass, Electric, Ice, Flying and Ghost-type Pokémon. Only Pokémon that have any of those three types are eligible. As per normal Little Cup rules, these Pokémon must be 500 CP or below.

So, what are some of the best Pokémon you can use to rack up victories in the Pokémon GO Holiday Cup: Little Edition.

What is the best team for the Pokémon GO Holiday Cup: Little Edition?

It's hard to always say there is a one size fits all best team for any single Pokémon GO PvP Cup or League. After all, Pokémon GO PvP is all about counters, specific movesets and thinking outside the box to get one up on your opponent. So bear that in mind.

However, statistically one of the best teams for the Pokémon GO Holiday Cup: Little Edition is Smeargle, Alolan Marowak and Amaura. Shadow Alolan Marowak will also be fantastic.

This team gives you a good range of type coverage, with these Pokémon having a range of moves in a range of categories. However, Smeargle does need XL candy in order to reach the top end of the 500 CP limit. That means that you do need spend a lot of resources for what is a temporary cup.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Currently it is not possible to select Smeargle for the Holiday Cup: Little Edition. It is currently not clear why. Stay tuned for more information as soon as Niantic address this.

Holiday Cup: Little Edition meta overview

There are some good and accessible Pokémon that you can use in the Holiday Cup: Little Edition. Alolan Vulpix is a common spawn, as is Fletchling and Joltik. The best Pokémon, Smeargle, is also very easy top get. He appears in Pokémon GO after a Snapshot encounter, so make sure do to some of those if you need one.

The challenge for building a team for the Pokémon GO Holiday Cup is actually finding these Pokémon at a low enough level for them to fit the 500 CP cap.

Be warned that while several Shadow Pokémon are all very useful in the Holiday Cup: Little Edition, Shadow Pokémon are more expensive to power up, and much harder to get optimised IV values for. For a temporary PvP Cup, it might not be worth the investment.

However, using any of those Pokémon will stand you in good stead for your battles in the Holiday Cup: Little Edition. Good luck out there Trainers!
