Everything you need to know if you are going to the Unova Tour in Los Angeles.
The Pokémon GO Unova Tour is here, with in-person events in Los Angeles and New Taipei City taking place across the weekend.
If you're heading to the event in Los Angeles, we've got you covered with everything you need to know to make the most of the event this weekend. This includes some important new information shared very recently by Niantic and the Rose Bowl Stadium.
What to bring to the Pokémon GO Tour: Los Angeles event
Most important is making sure you have everything you need physically when attending an in-person event. This guide will relate mostly to your day at the Rose Bowl Arena, but of course will broadly apply to any City Experience Days you purchased additionally too.
This is where the new information comes in. Niantic announced that there are bag restrictions in place this year. For those of you who attended the Sinnoh Tour, this is different to last year.

This year, there will be a clear bag policy in operation. Additionally, Trainers are limited to one Power Bank each. This Power Bank needs to be "small" which is roughly the same size as a smart phone according to the rules.
What bag can I bring?
Here is the information shared by the Rose Bowl Stadium:
Approved Bags:
- 12” x 6” x 12” clear plastic bag
- 1-gallon plastic freezer bag
- Clutch with a shoulder strap (clutch may not be larger than 4.5” x 6.5”)
- Clutch with a wrist strap (clutch may not be larger than 4.5” x 6.5”)
- Diaper bag, as long as accompanied by a child
Non-Approved Bags:
- Backpack
- Camera case
- Mesh bag
- Purse
- Tinted plastic bag
- Printed pattern plastic bag
- Oversized tote bag
- Fanny pack
- Binoculars case
Unfortunately that means for a lot of Trainers, their trusty backpack won't be allowed in. Make sure to pack efficiently, with a fully charged power bank, a water bottle (there are places to refill in the grounds) and make sure you have a hat to shield yourself from the Sun.
Additionally, if you are worried about the Power Bank restrictions, there are charging stations all over the park. Make the most of these, especially if you want to take a little sit down during the day.
Additionally, there is a Bag Check-In located near Gate A at the front of the stadium, that will allow you to leave things you cannot bring to the Stadium. In addition you can revisit this during the day. That means you could "hot swap" power banks if you needed too.

Get ready for the Pokémon GO Unova Tour: Los Angeles in game
Of course, the focus of the weekend for all Trainers will be goings on in game. These in-person events are the absolute best experience that Pokémon GO has to offer. Surrounded by thousands of fellow Trainers, with exciting Pokémon debuts, amazing bonuses and more. This is the most enjoyable way to play Pokémon GO.

To make the most of it, you need to be prepared. Here are some important tips and tricks to remember in Los Angeles:
- Make sure to clear out your Pokémon storage in advance of the event. You don't want to spend time in the park doing the boring job of transferring Pokémon storage.
- Try to have Incense for the entire event. This Incense will attract Unkown, which is a rare and hard to get Pokémon.
- Spin as many PokéStops as possible, and don't let your bag fill up with stuff you don't need. These PokéStops award special Field Research, which includes encounters with featured event Pokémon. Additionally, there are special Egg rotations - you will want to make the most of these.
- Keep moving! It can be easy to get bogged down in a particular area, but staying on the move will be the best strategy. You'll get a greater variety of spawns, hatch more Eggs, spin more PokéStops and importantly experience the entire park.
Are the Unova Tour Ticket add-ons worth it?
A big decision for Unova Tour players heading to Los Angeles is about the optional extras on top of your ticket. There is the Raid Lover and Egg-thusiast add-on, and also the option to purchase additional 'City Experience' days.
Most Trainers have probably already decided on these add-ons. However, for those of you still making up your mind here are the important things to consider.
Both the add-ons become significantly better value if you choose to play additional City Experience days. For those of you playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday you really should consider purchasing the add ons if you can afford it. The additional bonuses, specifically Stardust from Eggs and XL candy from Raids are incredibly valuable resources.

For the Egg-thusiast add-on, you will need to consider how many Incubators you have. The 3x Stardust bonus means you can really rack up the Stardust across the event. However, if you don't have (or won't buy) the Incubators you need to make the most of this.
The Raid Lover add-on provides additional Raid Passes every day. This is in addition to XP and candy bonuses. What is important to consider here is how many Raids you will likely do. They are the main component of an in-person event, with the exciting new Black and White Kyurem fusions in Raids. The cost of the add-on is cheaper than just buying the Raid Passes directly, and has candy bonuses.
So, if you plan to do Raids, even for just the Park Day, this add-on almost certainly represents value for money.
