Overcome Shadow Latios’ wrath in raids by learning its weaknesses!
This Pokémon GO guide will give you everything you need about the weaknesses of Shadow Latios, including the top counters against it, so you can easily take it down in raids.
Known as the Eon Pokémon, Latios is a Dragon/Psychic type that serves as the male counterpart of Latias. Both were introduced in the third generation of mainline Pokémon games.
Based on their stats alone, Latios is often viewed as the better choice over Latias because of its higher Attack. Latias does have a higher Defense, although that might limit its viability in raids.
Speaking of its ranking, Latios stands at #21 in the best Dragon types, while it’s #9 in the best Psychic-type category. If you don’t have a Mewtwo, Gallade, Gardevoir, or Latios, especially a Shadow variant, Latios is definitely a solid alternative that you can use in raids and PVP against those tough Fighting and Poison types.
Number of Trainers needed for a Shadow Latios raid
Shadow Latios can appear in five-star Shadow raids, and the minimum number of Trainers required to defeat it is four. It might still be possible to fight it with three Trainers, but the chances of Shadow Latios wiping everyone’s Pokémon will become much higher.
Just like any type of raid in Pokémon GO, having more Trainers will make your goal much easier, so try to invite as many participants as you can.
Shadow Latios’ Weaknesses in Pokémon GO
As a Dragon/Psychic type, Latios is weak against Ice-, Bug-, Ghost-, Dragon-, Dark-, and Fairy-type moves.
Despite having multiple type weaknesses, it can dish out lots of damage with its equally versatile moveset, which includes Dragon-, Psychic-, Grass-, Fighting-, and Normal-type moves.
Top counters for Shadow Latios
Do not hesitate to bring your best Dragon types against Shadow Latios. It only had two Dragon-type moves in its arsenal, and even if it can deal Dragon Breath, your team of Dragon types should be able to hit harder over time.
Here is a list of counters that you can call forth against a Shadow Latios:

When it comes to Dragon types, the best choices in the game so far are Mega Rayquaza and Eternatus. Given their high Attack stats, they can quickly bring down Shadow Latios’ HP to zero.
If you’re not a fan of using Dragon types, you can go for Ghost and Fairy types instead, like Dawn Wings Necrozma and Mega Gardevoir.

- 2178 CP
