Tekken 8 ranked mode has arrived and with it comes the question of the new Tekken 8 ranks for online play. The various 3D fighters of the world--Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, etc.--always seem to have these fantastic ranks and icons to denote just how good you are in the online arena. Honestly, they're always way cooler than the ones found in Street Fighter. Why be a gold rank when you could be a Eliminator? Tekken Ranked Mode never fails to please.
Well, we're here to run down the 30 Tekken 8 ranks available from the launch of the game, along with what each denotes. Fist meets fate meets ranks, so let's get going.
Format
First things first: What is Ranked Play in Tekken 8? There's a few changes from past games, but this is the rundown:
- Best of three system with no more infinite rematch
- Dan ranks aren't lowered even if the player loses, up to yellow rank
- 30 ranks total
- Practice functions available while waiting
- Friends and competitors will be shown in the Dan rank gauge
- Ghost Data of your opponent after the match

What ranks are in Tekken 8 Ranked Mode?
There are a total of 30 ranks in Tekken 8, seven less than its predecessor. The highest rank is Tekken God of Destruction. We've collected all of them below along with the points required to reach them.
The 30 Tekken 8 ranks are divided into 10 different colors/divisions:
- Brown (lowest rank)
- Silver
- Light Blue
- Green
- Yellow
- Orange
- Red
- Ruler
- Blue
- Gold (highest rank)
To determine your online rank in Tekken 8 you will first play a calibration match against a bot. After the bo5 match you will be awarded a rank and allowed to play your first match.

Experience Points (XP) in Tekken 8 Ranked Mode
You will gain XP Points towards your Rank Level for every series you win, and winning a rematch against an opponent you just defeated will also reward you with XP. Unfortunately, winning a couple of rounds but losing the match doesn't grant XP (although it does reward you with more Fight Points!).
Between Beginner (Brown Belt) and Cavalry (Green Belt) you will not lose experience regardless of how many defeats you have. However, after you reach Warrior (Yellow Belt) you will begin to lose XP after every defeat. Plus, if you consistently lose you can be demoted back down to Green Belt.
After you reach certain milestone ranks with a specific character, all your other characters will automatically be ranked up. This is likely to avoid high level players smashing fresh meat with their third strongest character.
