How to turn off crossplay in XDefiant

Crossplay is one of gaming's greatest features, but not everyone wants to go against players on another platform. A game like XDefiant understands that, and believes it is absolutely your right to turn off crossplay whenever you feel like.

The Ubisoft first-person shooter makes it easy to toggle the setting on and off at any point. There's even an extra option that lets you crossplay against those with the same input, such as mouse and keyboard or controller.

The crossplay setting is found, of course, within the Settings of XDefiant. Here's how to get there and toggle it:

If it is off, you will only play with others on your system. That means PC versus PC, PS5 versus PS5, or Xbox Series X/S versus Xbox Series X/S.

Otherwise, if the crossplay option is on in XDefiant, you'll go against anyone and everyone in matchmaking that also has the option turned on. No matter what system they're using.

If you want to play with crossplay on to heighten your chances of finding a match faster, you can still make things fair in your eyes.

This is done with the Input-Based Matchmaking setting in XDefiant, which right near the Crossplay option. Just follow these similar steps to select it:

This will ensure you only play against players with your same input. If crossplay is on and you're a PC user with a controller, you'll go against other PC users or console users with a controller. Of course, the same is said about a keyboard and mouse user.
