The Rivalry Series returned to showcase the intense matchup between Alabama and LSU.

After an intense matchup and Alabama victory over LSU on the football field on Nov. 9, the two schools took the rivalry online. Progressive Rivalry Series returned from a one-year hiatus to feature Alabama and LSU competing in College Football 25. Current student athletes, star alumni, and influencers representing each school squared off for the goal of earning the title of Rivalry Series champion for their team.

Rivalry Series results

Much like Saturday’s football game, Alabama earned the victory in dominant fashion. BeardedBlevins started off the event, earning a point for Alabama by defending LSU’s representative, Erobb, in the Influencer Championship match. Alabama never looked back from there, earning 6 points in athlete matchups. LSU’s single point was earned by Greg Penn III, resulting in a final score of 7-1 in Alabama’s favor.

Highlights

The Alabama and LSU’s Rivalry Series matchup was full of exciting games! LSU’s lone point came in what was perhaps the most exciting game of all. LSU linebacker Greg Penn III defeated Alabama star quarterback Jalen Milroe in a four-overtime thriller — 24-22. After failing to score on his 3OT attempt, Penn kept Milroe out of the end zone on back to back plays for his 3OT and 4OT attempts. In his 4OT attempt, Penn ran an end around handoff to his wide receiver who reached the endzone and earned Penn the victory.

The largest margin of victory in the matchup came when Damien Harris, former Alabama and NFL running back, took down Marlon Favorite, former LSU and NFL defensive tackle, in a 70-0 shutout.

While 70 points was quite impressive, Alabama’s dominance didn’t end there. Jamhyr Gibbs, Alabama alum and star NFL running back for the Detroit Lions, scored 83 points in a routing of Brad Wing, former LSU punter and current player for the San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL, who scored 26 in what was the highest scoring game of the rivalry.

While many matches had high scores, Alabama running back Jam Miller and LSU running back Josh Williams displayed a defensive masterclass. The final score was a 6-0 victory for Miller. The lone score came from an interception that Miller returned for a touchdown. Miller missed the ensuing extra point attempt, meaning zero offensive points were scored in the match.
