It’s not a situation fans want to see their team in. Despite being one of the tournament favorites, Falcons started their Major run with two losses. When each match was win or die, the team just could follow people’s expectations.

The recent tournament performances of Team Falcons are delightful to follow. After the addition of two top players from G2, this org stubbornly climbed up to the top spots at big CS2 events. It feels like their only remaining demon is Vitality: the team that stops Falcons from winning big grand finals.

The first rounds of Stage 2 at BLAST Austin Major 2025 did not go well for Team Falcons, though. Those two lost matches threw the players into the elimination zone. Moreover, Falcons did not lose to big, well-established esports orgs. They were the victims of two underdog stories, which should feel especially unpleasant.

The hope was still there, and it was strong. To survive this stage and the entire Counter-Strike 2 BLAST Major in Austin, Team Falcons defeated OG in Round 3.

In Round 4, they faced MIBR. It turned out to be the most difficult and utterly disastrous match for the Saudi org. While fans looked forward to their miraculous recovery, which was within the realm of possibility considering the team's power, Falcons lost and got eliminated. Their journey in the Austin Major has concluded.

Team Falcons vs MIBR: Map scores, details, and the result

It’s the second best-of-three (Bo3) CS2 esports match for both these teams at the Austin Major 2025. Only one survived it, and this team wasn't considered the favorite.

Map 1, Anubis

It was a game the community expected from Team Falcons. MIBR took some rounds in the first half, but when Falcons switched to the CT side, they just marched to victory.

Such a level of confident play was not seen again from Team Falcons in this series.

Map 2, Nuke

It was MIBR who started strong on Nuke. On the CT side, they won 10 rounds in the first half. Falcons rushed to recover, and they put a decent effort into closing the gap. However, the score difference was already too drastic. With a final push in the second half, MIBR secured this map.

Map 3, Inferno

This turned out to be the longest game of BLAST.tv CS2 Austin Major 2025 so far. The teams triggered overtime several times to remain in the tournament. Eventually, MIBR emerged victorious.

The tournament continues for MIBR, and they have another big challenge ahead: FaZe, who struggle to earn the final win to qualify for Stage 3.

Team Falcons can reflect on their performance and ready up for the next big Counter-Strike 2 event: Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2025.

Aiming for the Playoffs heaven but stepping into the elimination hell

There is no tragedy for CS2 teams in losing matches and even putting their tournament lives at risk. Many pros were there. In a way, it’s a challenge to get stronger — unless you were eliminated by less-known opponents and have no chance to recover.

Falcons are battling their way to S-tier wins relentlessly. They were one step away from this goal at a couple of big tournaments.

A bit earlier, Team Falcons won PGL Bucharest 2025, but to be fully honest, many top teams skipped that tournament, including Vitality, NAVI, Spirit, and MOUZ.

During Stage 2 of BLAST Austin Major 2025, Team Falcons experienced two losses and quickly fell into the elimination group.

To not embarrass themselves completely, Falcons eliminated OG in Round 3. However, the match was too close for comfort.

MIBR joined the Major with Stage 2, like Falcons did. They lost to Legacy and Nemiga but won over BetBoom.

You generally wouldn’t expect the same top-level performance from this team as from Falcons. The current version of MIBR reached 5th–8th at PGL Astana 2025, and it’s their highest achievement this year.
