Some of the biggest Counter-Strike 2 teams have advanced to the final brackets, setting up matchups that are as exciting as they are unforgiving.

In general, it’s not the most representative Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament. Vitality, MOUZ, and some others skipped it. Still, we can witness Falcons, The MongolZ, and G2 Esports playing at FISSURE Playground #2 — this makes the event an interesting show.

The prize pool of $500,000 and the chance of tournament practice attracted other top-level organizations. There were 16 participating teams in the Swiss Stage. Only eight of them advanced to the Playoffs.

In the end, it can be another trophy for the favorites: those who got a big win in the recent weeks. Or FISSURE Playground #2 can become a decent breakthrough for those who struggle with reaching the top placement.

Another win or a big breakthrough

We can easily distinguish big favorites, potential winners, and underdogs among the FISSURE Playground #2 participants.

Big favorites

Two teams lifted prestigious CS2 esports trophies right before this tournament.

The cruel part is that they face each other in the quarterfinals. It’s a banger of a match, and only one of the favorites makes it further.

Potential winners

Two teams at FISSURE Playground #2 are potential winners, but they still need a final push.

  • Aurora Gaming reached the grand final at EWC 2025. The Turkish roster shows decent results this season.
  • Team Falcons consists of esports celebrities, but their performance is rather a rollercoaster. Falcons were at many big grand finals, but they also failed big at some events, such as Austin Major 2025.

Underdogs

The rest of the Playoffs participants clearly need to add wins to their accounts.

  • Team Liquid has been struggling a lot recently. The North American organization has added European players to the roster, but Liquid still can’t hit its former glory.
  • Astralis shines at such smaller tournaments as FISSURE Playground — the team was in the grand final of the first event of this series. But then again, Astralis wasn't able to qualify for bigger tournaments. Magisk returned to the organization, replacing stavn. With dev1ce, it’s two players from that legendary roster.

  • FURIA is different now, with FalleN in the roster. The team reached the top 4 at BLAST Open Fall 2025, but it’s not a tournament win yet.
  • paiN Gaming has great potential but not big wins. The team was in the top 4 at the Austin Major.

The next properly big CS2 esports event is ESL Pro League Season 22. It happens from Sept. 27 to Oct. 12.
