HLTV Community Awards 2024 Winners

Talent of the Year 2024 - James Banks

Kicking off the proceedings, Talent of the Year was the first Community-voted category to be announced. Desk host, on-stage presenter, and Interviewer James Banks won 2024's Talent of the Year award after his second-place finish last year.

Event of the Year 2024 - PerfectWorld Shanghai Major

While some vocal fans may disagree, as the lack of viewership showed, Perfect World won out in the community voting for event of the year. The Shanghai Major was an incredible celebration of Counter-Strike with players, talent, and attendees all waxing lyrical about the event following its conclusion. The merchandise especially charmed all attendees, as mentioned by Alex "Machine" Richardson on stage.

Content Creator of the Year 2024 - NadeKing

Looking suspiciously like Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund in his award reception, NadeKing received the Content Creator of the Year award. "Anyone can be NadeKing," the anonymous-creator said in his reception speech.

Streamer of the Year 2024 - ohnePixel

As expected, ohnePixel swept the voting for Streamer of the year. The skin's aficionado, entertainer, and part-time coach, was gracious in his speech bringing fellow nominee dima_wallhacks onto the stage. The two streamers experienced incredible growth in 2024, bringing pro-CS to an ever-wider audience.

Skin of the Year 2024 - AK-47 Inheritance by Endrit

Endrit's AK-47 Inheritance earned the nod for CS2 skin of the year. Included in the Kilowatt Collection that kicked off CS2's cosmetic updates, the skin featured a Chinese Porcelain finish in white and blue, alongside Gold highlights.

HLTV Panel Awards 2024 Winners

Following the Community Awards, the show moved onto the big stage for the Panel awards. With a 35-member Panel, these awards represent the best players in each role. Here are all the winners:

Opener of the Year 2024 - donk

By far the most clear-cut award of the year, donk received the nod for Opener of the Year. The Russian phenom beat out Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski for the award, thanks to his server-shattering performances across the year. Given donk's nomination for the Player of the Year award, this comes as no surprise, as the 18-year-old continues to break the boundaries of what's possible in CS2.

I'll save my speech for later.

Closer of the Year 2024 - jL

Moving from the first 20 seconds of the round to the last, shox took to the stage next to announce the Closer of the Year. NAVI's Justinas "jL" Lekavičius won the award thanks to his incredibly high level of clutches, especially in high-pressure moments. Whenever NAVI was under pressure, it was jL clutching the round out to save them. At PGL Major Copenhagen in particular, the Lithuanian was spectacular, earning his first MVP award.

Anchor of the Year 2024 - b1t

PGL Krakow 2017 MVP, Däuren "AdreN" Qystaubaev took to the stage to announce the Anchor of the Year award. After losing out on Closer of the Year to his teammate jL, b1t earned the nod for Anchor of the Year, highlighting his incredible development as a stable force for NAVI's site-holds. In 2024, b1t emerged as a dominant anchor, especially with his mastery over A pit on Inferno.

AWPer of the Year 2024 - m0NESY

While the AWP no longer remains the dominant force it was in CS:GO, its presence on the server still has the potential to turn the tide in any match. Adding another feather to his cap, m0NESY received the award beating out both Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov. With G2 gearing up with a new roster, the youngster will hope to continue his incredible record in 2025.

IGL of the Year 2024 - Aleksib

If you've listened to any CS2 broadcast or podcast, NAVI's interesting rise to the top was a key talking point. Despite lacking a traditional superstar, the team has built an incredible resume of wins. Credit for that largely goes to the Coach-IGL pairing. Fittingly, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen was awarded IGL of the Year for 2024, for his incredible mid-round calls and ability to pull together a squad of misfit stars.

Coach of the Year 2024 - B1ad3

With Aleksib receiving the IGL award, there was little doubt that Andrij "B1ad3" Ghorodensjkyj would earn the coach's equivalent. The progenitor of CS's "Tactical Pages" era, B1ad3 received the Coach of the Year award thanks to his contribution to NAVI's incredible 2024.

This was the most competitive year in my career. [...] Anything is possible if you dare to dream high.

Highlight of the Year 2024 - donk 1v5 Shanghai Major

Shanghai's crowd may have cheered for all teams equally, but there were very few moments where the Chinese crowd broke their incredible discipline and got onto their feet. So when the crowd went berserk in the Elimination stage watching donk's incredible 1v5 on Mirage, it was clear that the play had been something special. With his team down for the count, donk turned the tide with his trusty AK in a showcase of exceptional skill.

HLTV Awards 2024 Winners - Rookie, Team, and Women's awards

Finally, the show moved to the most-anticipated Awards, with Player of the Year waiting in the wings as the showstopper. Here are all the in-house awards from HLTV:

Rookie of the Year 2024 - donk

For the third time, donk stepped onto the stage, this time to accept the Rookie of the Year award. donk's 2024 was such a dominant year that we may never see anything similar in CS again. When you take a step back and remember that the kid only started playing tier 1 at IEM Katowice 2024, there's little doubt why Donk added this Award to his tally.

Women's Team of the Year 2024 - Imperial Fe

Ever since the start of the Impact League, Imperial has been utterly unstoppable. Sweeping all six seasons of Impact, the team has now earned invites to BLAST Bounty and IEM Katowice 2025. Despite 2024 being their first real challenge in the Female scene, Imperial Fe still secured the award for Women's Team of the Year 2024.

Team of the Year 2024 - NAVI

With Spirit's victory at Shanghai and Katowice, and G2's unique set of trophies, NAVI's claim for Team of the Year had eroded a bit. But in the end, their streak of six finals and consistently strong teamplay edged out a win for them.

Presenting the Award for Team of the Year was Minh "Gooseman" Le, one of the creators of Counter-Strike. In his speech, the developer talked about the growth of CS as an esports over the past decades, highlighting the role everyone in the community has played in making Counter-Strike the phenomenon it is.

Women's Player of the Year 2024 - ANa

Much like Imperial Fe, there was nothing in ANa's path to claiming Player of the Year once again. The Romanian Sniper has been a dominant force in the Female scene, leading Imperial's charge through every tournament. With this award, ANa completes a three-peat of Player of the Year awards, a feat that is yet to be achieved in the HLTV Top 20.

Player of the Year 2024 - donk

No amount of praise you put at Donk's doorstep will truly demonstrate the impact the phenom had on the server. His dominance in IEM Katowice 2024 shattered all records and led to "donked" becoming a common verb in the Counter-Strike lexicon. Across 2024, we witnessed various sides to donk, the team player, the solo-carry, and the brilliant orator.

He beats out m0NESY and ZywOo to earn the award, marking an end to Counter-Strike's most closely contended race for Player of the Year. Never before have three players been this competitive. But in the end, it was the Rookie entry-fragger toppling CS' giants to make his mark.

During the Awards ceremony, HLTV will also be inaugurating the Hall of Fame, a first for Counter-Strike. The Hall of Fame, first announced in November, will aim to celebrate legendary CS players after their competitive careers end.

In the long term, HLTV also aims to create a physical space where the Hall of Fame and other Counter-Strike achievements "can be paid tribute to." Inductees will also receive an engraved Rolex at the ceremony alongside a Special HLTV player profile on the site itself.

The first inductees will be two Swedish duos that cemented the way Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS:GO were respectively played. Emil "HeatoN" Christensen and Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson represent the CS1.6 era as the original Swedish duo that played under the original NIP and SK Gaming lineups.

Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, who started their careers under the wings of these 1.6 legends, eventually dominated the scene themselves, especially in CS:GO, where their tenures under the NIP-banner helped establish Counter-Strike as a global esports.

HLTV Top 30 - #21 to #30

As part of the pre-show HLTV also unveiled the 10 players outside the Top 20 list. From #21 to #30 here are all the ranked players:

  • #21 - Guy "NertZ" Iluz
  • #22 - Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin
  • #23 - Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • #24 - Kaike “kscerato” Cerato
  • #25 - Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotja
  • #26 - Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz
  • #27 - Keith "NAF" Markovic
  • #28 - Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold
  • #29 - Özgür "woxic" Eker
  • #30 - Martin "stavn" Lund

NertZ's inclusion at #21 will be a point of contention for some fans, but as explained by the panel, the decision came down to Heroic's lack of maps played against the top teams. Senzu at #28 represents TheMongolZ's rise through the ranks in 2024 and bodes well for the state of Asian CS going into 2025.
