This is a big win for G2 and the tournament.

G2's AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov is going to attend the BLAST Premier Spring Final after all, he announced on Tuesday, June 11.

Update June 13: mONESY will arrive today, but it is still not clear whether he would make it in time for the G2 vs Vitality match.

G2 had even announced that m0NESY would miss the event and head coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas would stand in, but m0NESY told fans he's picking up his passport today and will fly to London immediately.

"Got the visa, flying to collect the passport," m0nESY said on Telegram. "Really hope they will give it to me, might be in time for the first game."

Update June 12: It was been confirmed that m0NESY will miss the first match of the tournament against SAW today. m0NESY will get his passport on Thursday, so there's a chance he plays the second match.

G2's chances at BLAST Premier Spring Final skyrocket

Even though G2 have just won IEM Dallas with Jake "Stewie2K" Yip standing in for the in-game leader Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, it would be nearly impossible for them to win the BLAST Premier Spring Final without m0NESY.

This is because m0NESY is their best player in 2024 and a real contender to win the best player of the year award at the end of 2024. G2 would have to completely change their playstyle without m0NESY as he's the primary sniper.

Not to mention that TaZ, the one who would substitute m0NESY, hasn't played in an official match since October 2023 and was mostly competing against tier-two and tier-three teams by the time he retired from the game.

With m0NESY in, however, G2 have a good chance at winning the BLAST Premier Spring Final, especially if he keeps up the form displayed at IEM Dallas.

Who does G2 play in the first round of BLAST Premier Spring Final?

G2 will play against Team Spirit in the opening round of BLAST Premier Spring Final group B. Should m0nESY arrive in time, they'll have every starting player at their disposal.

The G2 vs Spirit bout will take place on Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30 a.m PT.
