It took them only three matches during the initial Stage 1 to proceed further and face some of the top-level invited teams.

We have a long and exciting Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major tournament ahead, but two teams can already celebrate their impressive achievements. Starting the Austin Major with three wins on Stage 1 — it’s a nice emotional boost at the BLAST Austin Major 2025.

Such a result can’t happen without proper effortt, but there’s also the other side of the coin: two teams had to fall in the Stage 1 finals. HEROIC vs FlyQuest and B8 vs Wildcard were the Round 3 upper matches.

Going even deeper into the CS2 BLAST Austin Major 2025 competition, let’s not forget about two teams that got eliminated from the event, which also happened disturbingly early.

How to watch Round 3 upper matches: CS2 Austin Major stream

The official channels of BLAST Premier on YouTube broadcasted the Austin Major Stage 1 Round 3 upper finals. Both these CS2 esports matches happened at the same time on parallel streams.

HEROIC started their match strong on Ancient and went to the break with 9:3. FlyQuest responded nicely in the second half, and they actually won Anubis. The third map started evenly for the teams with 6:6 in the first half. But then, HEROIC just won seven rounds in a row as CT on Mirage.

HEROIC advanced to Stage 2. FlyQuest face Nemiga Gaming for another chance to proceed further in BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.

Both these teams are hands down the Stage 1 favorites and some of the most interesting qualified teams to follow.

Before this CS2 esports tournament, HEROIC showcased their skills by eliminating FaZe from IEM Dallas 2025. That’s quite an achievement, even if the team did not make it further than the next match.

At the Austin Major itself, HEROIC defeated Chinggis Warriors in Round 1 by going 8:0 in the second half, which was the CT side on Anubis.

In Round 2, HEROIC won over NRG, and that is also a great result, considering the opponent roster having such seasoned players as Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella, who was in Team Liquid, and Alexander “br0” Bro, who left Astralis in late 2019.

HEROIC qualified for the CS2 esports Austin Major 2025 via European Qualifier since they finished 1st-2nd.

Somewhat ironically, many CS2 esports fans may recall the recent decent match by FlyQuest being also against FaZe Clan but at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025. FlyQuest lost back then, but they played amazingly, and the roster clearly has good potential.

In Round 1 of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, FlyQuest defeated Fluxo, with 10:2 in the first half on Ancient. After switching to CT, Fluxo won some rounds, but not the match.

The next opponent for FlyQuest was BetBoom, and that resulted in a 13:10 score on Mirage.

To qualify for the Major, FLY won the Oceanic & Southeast Asian Qualifier.

B8 demonstrated a great mentality during this match. They lost on Train, but even on that map the team battled to the end: Wildcard won only in overtime. And then, despite this hit, B8 returned with their full power. Their victory on Dust II was confident. And Inferno turned out to be pure domination.

Even on this early stage of CS2 BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, we already have a decent breakthrough. B8 is certainly a team to follow during the tournament!

Wildcard play against BetBoom in Round 4.

B8 sure is a young team, but you should not underestimate them! This roster defeated Astralis in the European qualifier to finish 6th and advance to the BLAST Major 2025.

In Rounds 1 and 2, B8 defeated Imperial Esports, after a pretty impressive comeback in Inferno, and OG, after a very close match on the same CS2 map.

Wildcard shined brightly during the qualification tournament: they were 1st-2nd in North America! And you may remember their performance at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025, where they caused trouble for Vitality and defeated paiN with almost double 13:0s.

Two eliminated teams

A bit after the Round 3 upper matches, four teams had a battle for survival. Losers are just out of the CS2 esports tournament. The same official streams featured these matches.

  • Chinggis Warriors 2:1 Fluxo
  • Imperial Esports 2:0 Metizport

Even for the winners of these two CS2 matches, every step can be fatal, as they remain in the elimination zone.

Losers of the upper matches, on the other hand, have only one step to take and two attempts to do so. FlyQuest and Wildcard do not want to postpone this to Round 5.
